'You've got to earn the right to play' - Clive Charles

FC PORTLAND SOCCER ACADEMY

NJCAA

The NJCAA stands for the National Junior College Association of America. There are 221 Men's Junior College Programs and 186 Women's teams across the United States. In Oregon & Southwest Washington the following schools have JC programs. Chemeketa CC, Clark College (Vancouver, WA), Clackamas CC, Lane CC, Portland CC, Rogue CC & Southwestern Oregon CC.

There are some very strong Junior College teams throughout the country. Student-athletes may opt for a JC program as the school is more affordable than a four-year school. They may also want to stay close to home for another couple of years and therefore select a JC program that is close to their hometown. What's important to note is that it is absolutely possible to attend a JC program, develop as a student-athlete, and then get recruited to play at a four-year program. You can find Junior College transfers on the rosters of schools at all four of the other divisions of play.

There are very few recruiting restrictions for coaches at the JC level. They can speak to prospective players early in their high school careers, and invite them to campus to train with the team.
