NCAA Division 2

There are currently 216 D2 Men's Programs and 267 D2 Women's programs. In Oregon, Concordia University competes at the D2 level on the Men's side and Concordia & Western Oregon University on the Women's side. The average Division 2 school has 2,500 students. There are athletic scholarships at the Division 2 level.

Excellent players compete at the Division 2 level. Athletes have often been identified as "All State" in High School and are generally considered top performers on their club teams. While the level of play on average is beneath the D1 level, there are some excellent D2 teams that could absolutely compete with Division 1 programs. D2 schools also often feature transfer student-athletes. Kids who have spent time at the Division 1 or Junior College level and decide that program isn't for them.

Like Division 1, Division 2 soccer is demanding in both the fall and spring seasons.

It's important to note that current NCAA rules allow Division 2 programs to hold one practice or tryout for student-athletes. This is most commonly done in the spring, when coaches will invite prospective players to attend a team's practice where they can be evaluated alongside current team members.
