Attire suggestions: dress athletically, tighter-fitting clothes made of fabric that stretches. Not jeans or hooded sweatshirts/jackets. Gloves are highly recommended.
Class Time: Arrive at the rink in plenty of time to have the skater in skates and ready to enter the ice at the class start time. During class, skaters learn and practice the skills appropriate for their level. Skaters play games during lesson time to practice their skills in a fun way. When Coach Mark believes the skater has mastered those skills, he will test the skater. This is done during lesson time and the skater will know after testing if they have passed. The skater will then move to the new level at the next available class.
Junior Coaches are Basic 6 level or above skaters who volunteer to assist the Skating Coach with instructing the Basic Classes. Junior Coaches review the skills and help the skaters practice the skill correctly. This aids in each skater’s advancement.
Volunteer Hours: All parents are required to volunteer some time to assist the club.
