The Bay State Fall Softball League is a town-based rec-type league which should be a nice addition to your spring rec and summer travel programs. The league was formed in 2014 in an effort to create an opportunity for more girls to continue to play softball and develop their skills for the following spring season. Any girl, regardless of ability, should be allowed to play fall ball. Teams should be a mix of town rec\travel players (just like your spring rec league).
We have a new website where all schedules, game results, rules, contact info, etc. are maintained. The new website along with the App should make registering\rostering teams, communication, scoring of games, and managing the league much easier.
I encourage all coaches to play to win, not play to mercy. Fall Ball should be enjoyable for the girls and getting mercied every week is not fun. If your team has a dominant pitcher and the opposing team is clearly overmatched, please be considerate and go to your 2nd or 3rd pitcher. Fall ball should give your new 10’s and 12’s a head start on next season. Getting those players up to speed on the rule changes in the fall will pay big dividends next spring. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
Sincerely,
Matt Dewey
