What does “League Age” mean

League age is determined by the players age as of July 31st for that year.  In simple terms, the age of the player on August 1 of that year is considered their age for the entire season.

Are the coaches required to be certified and pass a background check?

All volunteers in the North Florida Youth Football Conference must pass an extensive background check that meets the requirements in the state of Florida.  The conference has instituted several layers of inspection to help make sure the coaches in the league are qualified to be around our youth.

In addition to that, all coaches must certify annually with USA Football and Heads Up Football along with a special certification program sponsored by the league.

I am concerned about the safety of the unlimited weight classification.

Although football is a full contact sport, the game is constantly evolving to create the safest possible environment for our youth.

The hybrid approach to the player’s level of play that North Florida Youth Football Conference uses combines both the traditional age/weight approach and the age based approach.  The older age/weight matrix allows for such a huge gap in player age that does not take in account the maturity and developmental aspects of players.  That method allows for a possible gap of 4 years in one division.

Are you part of a national organization?

North Florida Youth Football Conference is a proud member of AAU Sports.  AAU is the largest national organization that provides not only football and cheer, but many other youth and amateur sport programs.
