The Mission of the Gardendale Youth Football and Cheer Association is to build and maintain a program that is successful in building character, establishing a work ethic, and winning championships by developing young athletes through the sports of football and cheer with outstanding community leadership.

1. What league does GYF participate in? 
GYF is a member of the United Youth Football League of Alabama

3. What day of the week does GYF play games? 
Saturday

4. When are the schedules released? 
 
After registration usually in July or early August

5. Where are the games played? 
The GYF football field is located at Bill Noble Park (behind the youth baseball fields).  The home games are played here and the away games will be played at the opposing park.  There are four home games and four away games each season.

6. How long does a football game last? 
Approximately 1.5 hours

7. Is it mandatory for my child to participate in cheer competition? 
 
No, that is voluntary and there is an extra charge for competition.

8. Will there be team and individuals pictures taken? 
 
Yes.  We have a professional photographer that takes pictures on a set day before the regular season begins. 

9. If I cannot be at registration on any of the scheduled dates for uniforms fittings can I register late? 
 
No.  Due to time constraints of ordering uniforms and other apparel items, we must turn our orders in immediately after registration.  

10. What equipment is provided for Football with registration? 
 
Fall 2020 players will receive a uniform (jersey and game pants), helmet, and shoulder pads.  Helmet and shoulder pads will be furnished by GYF but must be returned at the end of the season.  Shoes, mouthpiece, practice pants, practice jersey, and pads for pants (girdle) are the responsibility of the player.

11. What will be expected of parents during the season? 
 
Parents are responsible for getting their children to practice and games on time.  Parents are requested to volunteer to help especially when we are hosting home games.

12. What happens if my child cannot make practice? 
 
Attendance at all practices and games is required.  Any absence must be reported to the coach/sponsor prior to game/practice.  Failure to attend practices may result in less playing time, and in some cases, no playing time in the game.
