In order to prevent and protect children from the threat of violence, abuse, and neglect, State and Federal laws require organizations that provide or supervise youth activities to proactively screen (background checks) and train (online and in-person training, for their volunteers and employees.

Little League International has proactively implemented of these policies for all of its local leagues.

BACKGROUND CHECKS

ALL Little League volunteers who have regular interactions with players are required to submit a photo ID and submit to criminal background checks by the following:

JDPalantine - A Private company contracted with Little League International to search public databases for criminal records. Volunteers must register on the Calistoga Little League website and upload a photo id. Within 48 hours, you will receive an email from Calistoga Little League with a link to JDPalentine to complete your background check directly with JDPalentine. The background check process takes only 10-15 minutes.

California Department of Justice - A Public Law Enforcement Agency that utilizes fingerprinting via LiveScan to search a broad spectrum of Federal and State criminal records. This process is new to Little League and is being previewed. It should be up and running soon.

CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS TRAINING

All Little League volunteers are required to complete the following online training courses:

All volunteers must complete the Little League International University Abuse Awareness Training Course. Click on the link, and you can complete this training in about one hour. You will be emailed a certificate, which you can upload to your account on our website.

All Board Members, Team Managers, Coaches, and Umpires are required to complete the California Mandated Reporter Training for Volunteers, a 2-hour online training. Click on the link to register and take this training course, which provides very basic information on identifying signs of child abuse and neglect, and the requirements for reporting such information to the authorities for investigation.
