About Us

An “All Volunteer” 501 c (3) Corporation

At KYFA our goal is to provide a fun, family oriented football and cheer program for the city of Kennesaw. We are committed to teaching the fundamentals of football while instilling the ideals of good sportsmanship, loyalty, integrity, self-respect and the positive attributes of participating in team sports.

We are a member of the NWGYFL.

Are you interested in being a Sponsor?

An important reason for the success of our program each year is the strong support of our sponsors. We gratefully acknowledge their role in improving the quality of our program and appreciate their help in providing the resources for us to improve what we do for the children of Kennesaw and the surrounding areas.

Our primary sponsorship vehicle is the purchase of sponsorship packages. However, sponsorship packages are not the only way you can partner with KYFA. Companies wishing to donate materials, man power or other services to help maintain and expand our facilities are certainly welcomed to do so. And of course monetary donations of any size are welcomed.

Monies from sponsorships help us maintain our fields, make park improvements, purchase new equipment, provide registration scholarships and expand our facilities so that we may offer the first class youth football program Kennesaw deserves. Not to mention that KYFA is a 501c3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

If you are interested in partnering with KYFA, you can email us at [email protected] , or by filling out and mailing in the Sponsorship letter located in the Handouts section of this website.

How often will my child get to play?

If your child meets all practice obligations, they will be guaranteed 8 plays per game as designated by the NWGYFL By-Laws for competitive teams. If you are on an instructional team, your child is guaranteed at least 12 plays.

Are there always a competitive and instructional team? Who determines which team my child will play on?

No. Not always. If there is a need for two teams the Board approved coaches will decide, based on your childs skill level, what team he should play on.

How are coaches selected?

Anyone interested in coaching must submit a coaching application (see Menu) and background check form (see Handouts section of this website) to be submitted to the Football Director. Applications will be reviewed and approved by a coaching committee and presented to the board for approval prior to August 1st as stated in the KYFA By-Laws.
All Head Coaches must conform with the requirements set forth by NWGYFL and may be modified at any time without notice by the Board of Directors. All coaches shall serve at the direction and pleasure of the Board and no Head Coach shall be under the age of 21.

All Assistant Coaches must also apply and be approved by the Board. Head Coaches for each team are responsible for the selection of his/her assistant coaches.

Parents rotate different job assignments given by the Team Mom. This may include providing snacks and/or drinks or possibly gate duty prior to your game.

What if we are unable to complete the season?

Please check the refund form located in the Handouts section of the menu. A $75 cancellation fee may apply.

What can I expect the first few days of practice?

The first day of practice is basically a meeting with introductions and information to help you become familiar with the practice fields and organization. The next few practices will be in helmets, practice shirt and pants. NO PADS.

When do we practice?

Practices are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.  However, during the first few weeks of the season (before the start of the school year) additional days may be added.

When are the games played?

All home games are played at Kennesaw Mt. High School (KMHS) while away games are played at the home fields of the other teams within NWGYFL.

Games are played on Saturday but occasionally a week day game is necessary. Games will be played between 9am and 8pm with the younger teams typically playing in the earlier games.

The season consists of nine regular season games with a minimum of 4 home games per team. Teams that qualify for the playoffs as well as make it to the Super Bowl will play a total of 13 games.

Game schedules are coordinated by NWGYFL and will be made available approximately 2 weeks prior to the first game of the season. It will be posted and maintained on our website throughout the season.

Will my child play against bigger children?

The NWGYLF designates the weight restrictions for each age group.  Effective for the 2015 season, the restrictions are as follows:

Age Group Skill Player (lbs) Position Player (lbs)
5 75 105
6 85 115
7 95 125
8 105 135
9 115 unlimited
10 125 unlimited
12 & under 145 unlimited

Children designated skill players are those who can advance the ball (QB, RB, WR, etc.).  Position players are your lineman and are not allowed to advance the ball.
Do you keep score for the games?

Yes, we do keep score. In fact, there are very few differences between college football and NWGYFL games. Wins and losses are tabulated to determine playoff rankings.

What happens when practice is canceled?

You may be called by a calling post (to a number you specify), but our website is the best way to get instant updates. Practice may be rescheduled on the coaches discretion. However even if it’s raining practice may not be cancelled.

Can I get photos of my child in his uniform?

We will have a photo day during the season at which time parents can elect to buy team or individual pictures. Generally speaking pictures are taken during the late August or early September time frame.
