COACHING REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATION

Annual Requirements for All Coaches

All coaches must complete the following requirements annually:

CYS PHILOSOPHY & POLICIES

Core Philosophy

For all grade school sports, CYS philosophy is equal playing time at each game.

Attendance Policy for Middle School

• Players may only miss TWO regular season games for non-excused absences to play in post-season games
• Excused absences include: academics, illness, injury, funeral, school/church events, or as approved by CYS
• Unexcused absences include: vacation, club games/practices, birthday parties, etc.
  

Student Conduct & Attendance

• Players receiving detention should not participate in the next game (but must attend in uniform)
• Players not attending school on game day cannot participate in that day's game

Course Reimbursement Program

Catholic schools encourage coaches to improve their teaching skills. CYS will reimburse coaches for approved courses upon satisfactory completion.

Approved NFHS Courses for Reimbursement:

• Middle School Coaching (All Levels)
• Coaching Volleyball
• Coaching Track and Field
• Coaching Soccer
• Coaching Basketball

Note: Coaches must obtain approval from their school's Athletic Director BEFORE taking the course to qualify for reimbursement.
