WELCOME TO DAVIS COUNTY LITTLE LEAGUE

Softball FAQ's

PreSeason

  • (Optional) Clean-up Day
  • Gather your gear:
    • Softball players will be provided with socks and jersey top.
    • Players will have to provide their own glove.
    • Softball players will have to provide their own gray softball pants for their uniforms.
    • Teams will be provided with catchers gear, a couple of community bats, and a couple of community helmets with facemasks. 
      • If softball players would prefer their own helmet with facemask and bat (which must match league requirements) it is allowed and encouraged.
      • Softball players are also encouraged to wear protective facemasks for their protection.
  • Team practices occur between tryouts and the first game. These are determined by the coaches and will be announced after teams rosters are finished. 

Opening Day

Opening Day Ceremonies is an opportunity to celebrate Davis County Little League, the players, coaches, and the community. 

  • Opening day ceremonies will be on a Saturday in late April.
    • Parade
    • Individual and Team Pictures
    • 1 to 2 games per team
    • All games opening day games will be at the Baseball Complex on Brown Street.

Players Come Prepared

  • Individual and team pictures are taken on opening day. Picture forms and fees will be due at the time of pictures.
    •  Players are expected to be in full uniform (jersey, ball pants and belts, team socks, tennis shoes or cleats) for pictures and have any equipment they would like to use for pictures.
  • On the morning of opening day, there is a parade of teams that begins at the Bloomfield City Pool and ends at the Baseball Complex Kevin Ritz Field (West Field) at the bottom of the hill.
  • Games on opening day are played at the Baseball Complex on the Kevin Ritz Major (West) and Minor (East) Baseball fields on Brown Street.
    • Players will need their full uniform :
      • jersey (provided by the league)
      • ball pants and belts
      • team socks (provided by the league)
      • tennis shoes or cleats
  • Equipment
    • water bottles                   
    • gloves
    • bats (if you wish to use your own and they match league requirements)
    • helmets (also provided by the league)
    • masks (if needed)

Regular Season Schedule

Season games will start on Opening Day and continue until all teams have played all other teams 4 times.

During the regular season, softball teams can expect to play games on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

All regular season softball games are played at the Softball Complex near Pizza Hut at the intersection of Highways 2 and 63 on Smith Street.

  • Softball Majors: Charlie Rupe Field (North Field)
  • Softball Minors: Softball Complex South Field

Teams may also have one practice per week along with their game schedule.

Game schedules will be posted on the league Website and/or Facebook page and distributed by the coaches.

In the case of weather related postponement of games, the league and coaches will announce to parents as soon as possible. There are weather makeup days planned into the schedule.

City Tournament

At the conclusion of the regular season, the divisions will play a one-day (Saturday in June) city tournament using standard brackets to determine city champions!

All-Stars

During the regular season, the divisions will choose players from all teams to make up the All-Stars. All-Stars compete in district tournaments after the conclusion of the regular season to determine a district champion All-Star team that will advance to State Championships. Softball All-Star season is regularly from mid-June through late-June.

State

State Championship teams are determined by the All-Stars tournaments described above.

Softball State Championships is regularly scheduled from early-July through mid-to-late-July.
