Who We Are

LITTLE LEAGUE - HISTORY AND TRADITION

Established in 1955, Corning Little League (CLL) is a non profit youth organization, fully chartered Little League open to all boys and girls between the ages of 5-18 living within the boundaries for CLL as determined and approved by Little League Baseball. We play within District 1 of the Western Region of Little League. Little League Baseball/Softball is made possible by volunteers, sponsors and participation fees within the Corning community. The goal of Corning Little League is to provide the community with an exceptional educational athletic organization that provides enjoyment and satisfaction by all.

CLL is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which is elected by General Election Board Meetings. The playing season for CLL usually begins with practices in February and ends for most players in June. Post-Season and All-Stars begins in June and ends in late July or early August.

Although most people use the term “little league” loosely to refer to any kind of organized baseball played by youth, Little League legally refers only to the leagues and teams associated with Little League, Inc., founded in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in 1938. At its core, the purpose of Little League is to provide a safe, fun, wholesome combination of recreation and competition through regular season play among local teams. Little League is the cornerstone of youth baseball and symbolizes the very best in youth sports for more than six decades. Little League is played by nearly 3 million boys and girls in all 50 states and over 80 countries.
