Fall Baseball Season

Q01: Does Coolidge Little League (CLL) offer a fall season?

A01: CLL does not offer a fall season (yet). For our spring season, we generally open registration in the early-November timeframe and keep it open into February.  Practices start late February. Games for the season run from March through May. For now, if you are interested in playing fall baseball, you can check with neighboring Little Leagues, as some of them may offer it.  We are diligently trying to set the league up to run a fall baseball season in the near future so stay tuned!

Uniforms and Equipment

Q02: What does CLL provide for uniforms and what is the responsibility of the parents

A02: CLL will provide every player with a team hat, a numbered uniform shirt, little league patch, socks, and a belt. The parent will need to provide the pants for the uniform. Team Managers/Head Coaches will notify the parents of what color pants they should purchase.  Parents are also required to provide appropriate footwear for the player. The league will also provide batting helmets to each team that can be shared.  Players can provide their own helmets if desired.

Q03: What equipment should my child have before the first practice?

A03: Every child should have a minimum of 1) A glove 2) Cleats 3) Water Bottle. Useful additional equipment would be the following (just suggested not mandatory): Bat bag, batting glove, hand towel, sunscreen, bug spray, hair tie (girls), brush (girls)

Skills Assessments

Q04: What happens at player skills assessments and does every player make a team?

A04: The player skills assessments are conducted to assist coaches in forming the teams; every player will make a team. At player skills assessments, each player will go through the following progression with the coaches watching: (1) 2-3 swings with ball being pitched, (2) a run from home plate to second base, (3) field 2-3 ground balls at shortstop with throws to 1st base and (4) field 2-3 fly balls to left field with throws to home.

Q05: What happens if my player is unable to attend the player skills assessment?

A05: We ask that every player make every attempt to attend and participate in skills assessments. In the event that a player is unable to attend, they will be put in a "blind" draw in the draft to create teams and will be deemed non-eligible for All-Star play.  Essentially, they will be randomly added to a team.  If the player is well known by all of the coaches in that division, the board may allow the player to be selected through the draft process versus the "blind".

Q06: What types of bats are allowed for use in Little League.

A06: The USABat Standard is used for all divisions Majors and lower. Only USABat approved bats are allowed for use in these divisions.  Additional information can be found at: https://www.littleleague.org/playing-rules/bat-information/ A full list of approved bats can also be found at: https://usabat.com. The Juniors Division may use either USABat Standard bats or BBCOR bats

Q07: Where do players in Coolidge Little League play their games?

A07: All divisions of CLL will play their home games at Kenilworth Sports Complex. Away games are typically played in Eloy, Maricopa, Casa Grande, Superior, and Florence. This changes year to year.

Season Details

Q08: What time and days are the games?

A08: The game days for CLL are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, baseball at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Softball at 6:00 pm (some games are scheduled for 6:30 pm to allow travel time).

Q09: Where do the teams practice?

A09: Practices will be held at Kenilworth Sports Complex, West Elementary, North Park, and the field behind Parks and Recreation.  Coaches may also arrange to practice at other locations with league approval.

Q10: What do we do with the Medical Release forms?

A10: The Medical Release forms should be completed and given to you Team Head Coach/Manager.  They will keep all completed forms with them and bring them to all games and practices. This is information that can assist the coach if there is an injury to a player and the parents cannot be located or are not at the practice or game. These should be given to the coach and not any other league officials.  The coach will collect these at the first team meeting or practice.
