Football Practices

Practices begin on July 23rd.

Southwest Magnet HS
1775 Williamson Rd, Macon, GA 31206

During the month of August, your child will practice up to four (4) days a week.

Practice days and times may vary depending on each teams head coach.  Please know that 478 Flames has fields allocated as follows:

August 1st - Labor Day (or school start): up to four (4) days a week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday , & Saturday
After Labor Day (or school start) - end of season: up to four (3) days a week, Monday, Tuesday & Thursday


It is mandatory that your child attend all conditioning practices, any participant that misses a practice will be required to make up the missed time during the next scheduled practice.  This will put your child behind the rest of the team as they prepare to practice in pads with full contact. When students return to school, practices will be cut down to three days a week, plus one game most every Saturday.

Please DO NOT schedule any vacation time in August. It is the month for conditioning and learning. All players and their parents must make a commitment to be available for all practices and games. Football requires a serious commitment, at all age levels.

Regular Season Games

Games typically begin the first week of September; there is a usually a pre-season Jamboree game the last weekend in August. Once teams have been formed by the various associations, Conference will prepare and distribute schedules.  Once received,  we will notify all teams.  In our experience, the schedules will be made available to us sometime in late August and will be for the first four games of the season. 

Many games are at our home field, 49 Recreation Complex, and some games are away. GA PAC 12 tries to balance out the schedule so teams play equally home and away. The other teams in the Conference are located in the Central Savannah Region. The schedule will list the locations of each game.
