Roslyn Flag Football League

NFL Flag Official League

Roslyn Flag Football League is a non-contact, no blocking or tackling league and safety and fun are our primary objectives. To keep the league manageable and community focused, we limit the participation to Roslyn and East Williston school district children only (with very few exceptions).

IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR THIS FALL 2024 SEASON!

We are excited with the success of our current spring season this weekend and the improvements that we were able to make. There were a lot of challenges with other sports conflicts affecting attendance and participation last Fall which created many instances of teams either not having enough players to field a team or teams missing their best player because of other commitments and ruining the competitive balance we worked very hard to create when forming the teams. In order to continue to improve the experience for everyone, we ask that if your child cannot make the commitment to play the majority of the regular season games or does not intend to prioritize RFFL playoffs/Super Bowl over other activities, we ask that you do not register. If your child's schedule opens up we will allow registration prior to our draft or on a waitlist basis if there is an opening that will also not affect the competitive balance of the teams. We reserve the right based on attendance in previous seasons to limit and prioritize registration accordingly.

We will have a hard cap in each division for the number of participants and limiting the number of teams in each division so we can make sure every team has enough players and talent to be competitive even if a top player is missing on any given week due to illness or injury.

Scheduling: All games played locally on Roslyn School/Park fields.

We put an incredible amount of time and effort into every detail of this League. We get to know you and your kids personally. Our focus from the beginning is the proper formation of teams, recruiting the best volunteer coaches and scheduling consistency with parental convenience being a top priority. We coordinate with the other Roslyn Sports organizations (Roslyn Baseball, Booster Basketball, PAL Hockey, etc.) to avoid as many conflicts as possible. Scheduling for each division will take all of these factors into account as we know what the general conflicts are for each age group as we determine the game times.

Our philosophy is to keep our team rosters manageable so every child gets to play and participate. Our rules also differ from some other leagues which for the younger kids especially are much more conducive to the enjoyment of flag football at this age. We also utilize experienced, multiple referees for each game who help the kids and coaches and have been part of RFFL for many years.

We have created the right blend of competitiveness while emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork and having a great experience. Unlike other leagues, we do not register full rosters. We do not create “all star” teams or “friends” teams but rather the league coordinates everything and we work together with the parent coaches prior to the season to split the kids up in each division with the goal of creating fair and balanced teams by grade/skill level and school. We have had tremendous success with this format over many years and the kids and the parents also have had the opportunity to meet and get to know new people in the community and make lasting friendships and relationships.

The off-season preparation required is extensive and we need confirmation of interest from both the kids who want to play and the volunteers needed to coach so we can plan accordingly. We ask if you are interested in being part of our community league this Fall that you register ASAP so the process can begin immediately and we are ready to kick off when the summer ends. Once we fill a division, registration will be closed subject to a waitlist. If you are interested in volunteering to coach please indicate when registering your child and register as coach as well.

Registration will supply:

- NFL team reversible jersey
- Triple Threat FLAG belt
- Player accident and health insurance coverage
- Super Bowl Event with Pizza, snacks and drinks for all of the kids
- Professional video recording of the Super Bowl with link provided to the league members
- Trophies for all the Super Bowl winners and runner-up
- Incredible amount of fun!
- Financial Support to charities and organizations that are near and dear to our community especially the Ethan Falkowitz & Drew Hassenbein Foundations
