Field Rules

We welcome you to Los Osos Middle School and South Bay Soccer. In order to make your participation here a pleasant and safe experience we ask that you adhere to the following rules and guidelines.

SBSA leases the fields from San Luis Coastal School District and as such must adhere to ALL of their Policies.

NO DOGS allowed on school grounds at any time. If you bring an animal you will be asked to restrain your animal in the dirt parking lot or place it in your vehicle. Guide dogs and identified service animals are exempt.

NO PARKING is permitted along South Bay Boulevard; CHP will cite parking violations to any vehicles parked illegally.  Parking is available in the school parking lot on the north side of the fields with additional parking available on the south side directly adjacent to the field in the unimproved dirt lot. Handicap parking spaces are reserved in the school parking lot. Special parking arrangements for individuals of special needs can be made by contacting the SBSA President prior to game day or by speaking with a SBSA Board Member on the field.

NO SMOKING is permitted on school grounds. Individuals smoking will be asked to leave the playing fields.

VENDORS must be approved by the SBSA Board before they are allowed on the fields.

The set-up and take-down of the nets and field equipment is the responsibility of the home team but if both teams are South Bay teams, we would appreciate help from both teams.

Trash receptacles are provided on the field for your convenience. Each team is responsible for leaving the field in the condition in which they found it by removing all trash, including water bottles and after game snack wrappers and boxes.

South Bay Soccer substitution policies are outlined in the Parent Handbook on page 5 (page 8 of the PDF). Please note that as this is a recreational league, player participation policies must be followed.

South Bay Soccer utilizes youth referees in all age brackets. The youth referees are all USSF certified Grassroots referees and have undergone an initial certification process with an in person session as well as annual recertification. Our Referees are instructed to have the respective Coaches control themselves and spectators on their sidelines and the Laws of the Game prohibit the referees from interacting directly with spectators. If the Coach cannot control the behavior of themself or their spectators in a reasonable time, our Referees are instructed to terminate the match, in accordance with the Laws of the Game.
