Congratulations to the Nanuet/West Nyack 9u All Stars on winning the Carolyn Sullivan Pearl River tournament! The 9u team won a hard fought back and forth game in a rematch over New City 7-6. The game was close the whole way with neither team leading by more than 2 at any point. The offense had contributions throughout the lineup but timely hits from Danica Soprano, Franki Carter, Daniella Motto, and Daniella Jilleba who also had 2 RBIs helped push across the 7 runs. Layla Vitale and Hannah Reynolds had 2 runs scored each. The pitching helped hold back a tough New City offense and was led by 3 strong innings from Katie Keenan. Chloe Cacas came in and closed the door in the last 3 to help secure the win. The defense came up with some huge plays as well with a big catch by Daniella Jilleba at 1st Base, a few timely put outs by Franki Carter at 2nd base and 2 caught fly balls and a tag out at 3rd base by Carly Ciallella on a great field ball by Katie Keenan at SS.

The tournament had an extra special feel to it as manager Steve Vitale and his daughter Layla got to participate in a tournament that Steve’s father helped organize and run for many years as part of the Pearl River Board of Directors.

Huge thanks to all the parents, family, and friends who cheered these girls on the whole way! Not only did our girls win the Championship but we had the best dressed fans around!
