North Plainfield Recreation - Adult Programs

Our adult programs are designed for adults, 18 years or older, to get out for an hour or so, meet new people, socialize, exercise, and most importantly, have fun. Our programs are not designed to “win at all costs”. Please, bear that in mind when registering.

Currently, the Department of Parks and Recreation offers the adult programs of    Archery, Men’s Softball, Soccer, Volleyball, Yoga, Zumba, and Zumba Gold. All of our programs, with the exception of Men’s Softball, are co-ed.

To register for any of the following programs, go to our website at NPRecreation.com.

Yoga, Zumba, and Zumba Gold

Yoga is well suited for newcomers and for those who love to continue focusing on the fundamentals of the basic poses and correct breathing. The class consists of relaxation, gradual stretching, poses, breath work, and guided visualizations.

  • Classes will be offered twice a week. One hour per class.

  • Yoga will be offered ever Tuesday and Thursday, starting April 5th through June 9th. Classes will be offered at the Vermeule Community Center, on the 2nd floor, from 6pm-7pm.

  • Yoga will be instructed by a certified Yoga instructor, Ms. Dana Biggs.

Zumba and Zumba Gold (Low Impact for Beginners and Seniors) is a fitness program that involves cardio and Latin-inspired dance.

(Please note: These classes will be conducted in a Board of Education building. Board of Education activities may cancel a class on any given night. In the event of a cancellation, every effort will be made to change the location just for that evening. This is something that Recreation has no control over.)

  • Classes will be offered once per week. One hour per class.

  • Zumba will be offered every Tuesday night, starting April 5th. Classes will be at Stony Brook School Gym from 7:15pm-8:15pm.

  • Zumba and Zumba Gold will be instructed by a licensed instructor, Ms. Diana Ehling, who is a North Plainfield resident.

Children

We prefer, when possible, that children are not brought to the adult programs. We recognize there may be circumstances beyond your control and you must bring them with you. If this is the case, please understand that they MAY NOT participate or wander around the building and must stay in the room quietly and not cause disruptions. Please be mindful that this is an adult program. Some adults may have left their children home to get “me” time. Please be respectful of other participants.

We wish you a lot of fun, entertainment, and exercise!
