WEST BOYLSTON YOUTH SOCCER

Registration opens Jan 1st for the 2025 spring session!

Reminder that WBYS follows the Massachusetts youth soccer season that starts in the fall and includes two sessions (fall and spring).  Players "age up" traditionally in the fall.  Age limits are based on the first of the year, so it's not the age of you player at the start of the season but with respect to Jan 1st. Age limits are only applicable for our youngest players as once they start school Mass Youth Soccer utilizes school grade instead of age.

Registration divisions.

Town Rec League
Previously, we had 3 divisions in town; U4, U6, U8.  In order to help registration confusion and align with our travel programs we have renamed these.  All practices and game will occur in town.

Skills/Drills camp (born between 1/1/2021-7/1/2022): This was formally known as the U4 program.  Children in the 2.5-4 yr old age range will be provided a skills and drill league to help players learn the basics of soccer (dribbling, shooting, passing) in a fun age-appropriate manner.  The hope is to get children comfortable being away from parents and having fun (and getting out their energy).  There will be no scheduled games.  The league takes place once a week on Saturday mornings for 45mins.  Due to the age group, space is limited and dependent on parent/adult volunteers. Limit is 25 players (first come basis).

Preschool/kindergarten soccer: This was formally known as the U6 program.  This consists of 1 weeknight practice (60mins) and a Saturday morning game.  The games are 5v5 and no goalies are on the field.  The goal of this age group is to acclimate the players to playing real games while continuing to learn basic soccer skills.

First/Second grade soccer: This was formally known as the U8 program.  This consists of 1 weeknight practice (60mins, day TBD) and a Saturday morning game.  The games are typically 6v6 and including goalies, thrown ins and other advanced soccer rules. These players are continuing to improve their skills and preparing to enter travel soccer.

***ALL town rec leagues are COED.  Please register as soon as you are able in order for WBYS to make sure we can prepare for a smooth session for your players.

Travel League (Third grade and up)
Travel is a more competitive level of soccer but still recreational.  There are typically 2 practices a week and 1 game on Saturday in which teams from the surrounding towns will compete.

Soccer teams are divided into both boy and girl divisions and split into:
Third/Fourth grade (U10)
Fifth/Sixth grade (U12)

Please also consider signing up to help coach or join the board, WBYSA runs 100% of volunteers and your help is needed.  With out volunteers we cannot put on this program.  We need you help!!!
