Ages 7-13 Tackle Information

Tackle Football Information

Uniform Requirements:
• OGB to supply: Game jersey, helmet, chin strap, 1 mouth guard and shoulder pads.

• Player to supply: Practice jersey, practice pants and black game pants (with integrated pads), cleats, athletic shorts or girdle with protective cup and socks.

Physicals: Completed physical must be turned in to the Coach by the first practice.

Age-Based System

LEAGUE AGE DETERMINATION IS JULY 31st OF PLAYING YEAR

Ages5-6:		Flag Football
Age 7:		7U(formally Rookie Tackle)
Ages 8-9:		9U (formally Sophomore Division)
Ages 10-11:		11U (formally Junior Division)
Ages 12-13:		13U (formally Senior Division)

AGE-BASED FOOTBALL

The Age-Based format represents a more natural progression and development for today's youth football players. The Age-Based program will better align our teams with national trends and create a true feeder for High Schools.

WHAT IS AGE BASED FOOTBALL

Aged-Based football is an age and grade appropriate division without weight restrictions. The participants will be together with the same kids they play baseball, basketball, lacrosse, etc. The same kids attend class with and play together at home in their backyards with. They will be with their peers at all times, in fact, they're with their peers from age 5 all the way to 8th grade and on to High School in our program.

WHY AGE BASED?

The Program is socially correct. You have parity at every level and each child moves with their respective team. With an Aged-Based program, you don't have a child playing one level this year and having to move up 2 levels and play with older kids because of a growth spurt. Every child can play at the appropriate level with other kids their own age through our entire program.

Ages 5-6 Flag Information

Uniform:

• OGB to supply: Game jersey.

• Flag Players to supply: Black shorts or black athletic pants (for game day), black socks, and cleats.

• Proper Practice attire: T-Shirt, shorts or athletic pants, cleats, and mouthguard.

• Proper Game attire: Game Jersey, black pants or black shorts, cleats, mouth guard, black socks.

Football Reminders

Concussion Impact Testing: OGB's commitment to the safety of our children is primary. Concussions in athletes are serious injuries that should be properly assessed and monitored. This Organization supports proper medical evaluation, management, and recovery of concussions. With the increase of concussions occurring in youth sports, there are many ways our athletes can be protected. "Impact testing" is a means of establishing baseline neuro-psychological results that can help in the diagnosis and treatment of concussions. We encourage you to explore this, either through computer based software or in-office medical assessments. Athletes will not be allowed to play or cheer following signs or symptoms of concussions unless he/she is medically evaluated. A medical release form must be submitted to his/her coach in order for their return to athletic participation in this Organization.

Medical/injury policy: Any injury/illness requiring medical treatment will require a doctor’s clearance to resume play.

Please remember that no football athlete will be allowed to participate with metal cleats.

NOTE: Football Equipment provided by OGB is the property of the Oxford Golden Bears. A check and a signed Uniform Contract will required at the time of equipment distribution for the amount of $195, written out to the Oxford Golden Bears. This check WILL NOT be cashed UNLESS equipment is not returned in proper clean condition no later than December 1, 2022. Football Equipment Cost: Helmet ($130), Shoulder Pads ($50), Chin Strap ($15).
