Tamika O'Connor

Being a sports enthusiast her entire life, Tamika, affectionately known as ‘Prim’ was destined to continue in her passion for the love of sports. Coming from a background where she represented Jamaica in netball and played basketball, volleyball, softball, netball and soccer in high school.

She is a graduate of Capital Community College and has been working in the medical field for the past 8 years. She has been a member of the Hartford Premier and Development League (HPDL) board for the past three years and was recently elected as the Director of the Youth Program. This made it a perfect fit for someone whose philosophy is centered on the nurturing and positive development of young people.

Thriving on giving back, Tamika has always been involved in various volunteering endeavors, whether it’s helping to build playgrounds for local schools, assisting children in her homework program, or helping individuals fundraise money for special programs, children in need, or special community projects. She intends to continue Making A Difference (MAD) in the growth and development of the HPDL youth and adult programs.

Damon Davis

My name is Damon Davis, I was born in Yallahs, St Thomas, Jamaica, where I spent 11 years before migrating to England. After 7 years of living in England, I would later migrate to the United States of America where I resided in the Hartford community. I was introduced to the youth development portion of the Hartford Corner League and later played in the Men's Open League, winning the competition in 2006 with Lucians United. I later took a year off from playing competitive soccer only playing recreationally with my brothers, Kirk and Blax.

In 2008, Kirk, Blax & myself formed our first semi-professional team named Global International FC. That year we enter the Hartford Corner League where we finished runner up’s in both the Men’s Open and the Knockout final. From there onwards I played with East Hartford FC, winning 3 trophies until 2012 where unfortunately I tore my ACL. After a yearlong recovery I was back in action with our new team, NorthStars FC.  With continued success North Stars FC finished top of the league, however, losing out in the Knockout round of the playoff. The following year NorthStar FC went undefeated winning both the Men’s Open League and Knockout final in exciting fashion.

With the absence of the Hartford Corner League in 2015, it was tough for the NorthStar FC community and that is when it showed us the importance of having our community games. During this time, I became a big fan of the new and improved HPDL Summer League. Starting in January we start preparing for the upcoming summer league. We cherished the moments that follows, as we congregated with fellow West Indians and visitors to our culture. Throughout the years and after my dear friend Blax's tragic accident, I became more aware of what's valuable and what’s important to me. I promise to serve this board as a beacon of light, with youthful enthusiasms, and leading the next generation in the importance of togetherness. This new factor of teaching the next generation of youths to value their community first!!

I just simply want to say the HPDL Summer League is our World Cup, and I will always be an advocate to elevate and preserve it.

Ean Bernard

Ean Bernard is currently the Referee Coordinator for the Hartford Premier and Development League (HPDL). He has been playing soccer in the Hartford community for over 20 years now and is still playing competitively. A few of his friends that he has played with and against over the years have helped to rebrand HPDL and implement a youth program in the community.

Coach Ean started out as a volunteer two years ago after bringing his two sons every Saturday morning to the HPDL summer clinic. Coach Ean is now one of the youth coaches for the program and is ecstatic about giving back to the community, which he enjoys doing.

Coach Ean sees soccer as a way of life. Most of the people he has encountered in his life have come through soccer. Coach Ean finds soccer as a tool that teaches kids discipline, teamwork, and respect. In his opinion, Coach Ean believes soccer is the best sport in the world.

Currently, Coach Ean is the head coach of our U-16 Travel team, coaching kids ages 14-16 years old.
