Tierrasanta Futbol Academy, powered by Say Soccer San Diego, is the community soccer program in Tierrasanta. TFA serves San Diego in Tierrasanta, Murphy Canyon, Serra Mesa and surrounding areas. The club was formed by coaches, administrators and parents formerly of another Nationally controlled soccer organization. The TFA group knew they could provide both competitive and recreational players with higher level development, professional training and a better more community focused program. This was not possible given the strict volunteer only coaching model in the other National organization. We believe a flexible club of volunteers supported by professional trainers, locally controlled and responsive to the needs of the kids and community delivering high quality programs is more beneficial than one dictated from a far away National office with overpaid directors with no connection to the community.
In July of 2021, most of the competitive teams split from the other organization to form TFA San Diego. Against incredible hurdles put up by the other national soccer organization, the parents, coaches and administrators were able to quickly organize the new club in time to start the competitive teams playing in the SoCal league in September 2021. The club was born out of the need to do what was best for the players and families and to ensure the teams had knowledgeable and skilled coaches to further their development in a competitive league. Tierrasanta Futbol Academy is the recreational partner of TFASD.
Director of Coaching Greg Allick, TFASD President, Julie Denick, OPerations Director Steve Marxthe, TFA Trainers and club administrators have been an integral part of the Tierrasanta/Murphy Canyon/Serra Mesa youth soccer community for many years. They are excited to continue to offer as TFA/SAY Soccer, the great camps, clinics and leagues the community has enjoyed over the years under their direction. We are dedicated to ensuring each child has a great soccer experience and promise to be responsive to the needs of every member of the club.
The recreational program is supported by SAY Soccer and is recognized by United States Soccer Federation (USSF). SAY Soccer supports but does not interfere with the local community to make their club decisions based on community needs. TFA/SAY Soccer powered by great volunteers and is supported by Total Futbol Academy pro trainers. We are excited watch kids grow and flourish in a club that will put their needs first.
TFA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) youth sports organization committed to delivering top community-based soccer to kids in Tierrasanta/Murphy Canyon and surrounding communities. Based in San Diego, a high quality training and playing environment is provided for players ranging from 3 to 18 years old. In addition to regular league programs, TFA professional trainers offer clinics and specialized camps tailored for the recreational and competitive player.
TFA is a high quality but low cost locally run community club powered by lots of volunteer support. Volunteer coaches, referees, administrators, game day staff and many other opportunities are available in the recreational and competitive program. We believe in the development of the WHOLE child and building CONFIDENCE on the soccer field and in all areas of life. We believe in providing a POSITIVE environment where each child’s individual EXPERIENCE is EQUALLY significant.
We believe in the development of our coaches as positive ROLE MODELS, while holding them to the highest standards in both skill and strength of character. We believe soccer brings together people from various backgrounds to form a family, a COMMUNITY of SUPPORT, both on and off the field.
Our recreational program plays in our own club league. As we grow, we will transition older teams, 10U and older to play in local recreational leagues.
