Youth Academy

Academy Juniors

This program is designed for 10U & younger players who are very dedicated and want to learn to play the game on a high-level.

The players will follow a professional curriculum created by Pre-Academy Technical Director, Santiago Fusilier and the rest of the WFC staff.

The WFC Academy Juniors division will feed into the WFC Pre-Academy and full Academy programs.  This division builds off of our successful WFC Juniors program that we have had in the past.

  • Professional coaches & trainers
  • Professional, high-level Youth Academy curriculum
  • Emphasis on individual skills, physicality and tactical understanding
  • Academy Juniors will play both the fall & spring seasons

Select Academy

The goal of the Select Academy program is to provide a pathway for players to grow at their own pace under the guidance of experienced coaches and directors. Players get to travel locally and compete against teams from around the Triangle. Select is offered in both Wake FC South and North.

Seasons

Select Academy is a full-year commitment with a fall season (Aug. - Nov.) and a spring season (Feb. - May). Each season consists of ~10 games, one festival and at least one tournament. Additional events may be added depending on the team.

Travel

Select Academy games are played either in-house against other Wake FC teams or against other clubs in the area. Travel usually does not exceed one hour for any away trips.

Challenge

Wake FC Challenge is an introductory program for players & teams new to Wake FC. Challenge serves as an on-ramp to the developmental pathway, allowing for an easy transition from recreation to competitive travel. While the program is a step up from recreation soccer, it features limited travel and less commitment than a Classic team. Wake FC Challenge is offered in both Wake FC North and Wake FC South.

Seasons

Challenge is a full-year commitment with a fall season (Aug. - Nov.) and a spring season (Feb. - May). Each season consists of ~8 games and one festival. Additional events may be added depending on the team. Challenge teams also participate in the Wake FC Tournament Series as determined by the program directors.

Travel & Games

All Challenge games are played either in-house against other Wake FC teams or against other clubs in the area. Challenge teams are matched against appropriate levels of competition for each game. Travel usually does not exceed one hour for any away match.

Future Juniors Academy

Wake FC Future Juniors is a training program that may occasionally schedule games on the weekend.  It is designed to enhance the technical skills of the players.  It is unique to any other youth development program in NC. The program will create an environment that fosters a whole player, coach, and parent engagement philosophy. Every session will be full of energy with each player getting tons of touches on the ball in age-appropriate games and activities.  The program will aim to increase the player's skills, understanding and love for the game.  Each session will be carefully planned to include technical, motor-skill training/ development, and small sided games.

The training environment will be in accordance with the latest return to play guidelines released by NCYSA and NCDHHS. The staff will work with players and parents to ensure these sessions are executed safely for all the families. All CDC/NCDHHS requirements will be enforced at the fields and facility for players, staff, and parents.

All Wake FC Future Juniors participants will need to complete registration online (www.wakefc.com). Participants should meet the age requirements; however, there is not a tryout required to enroll and participate. Participants should turn 5 years old by the start of the program.  Cost for the seven week program is $65.00.  If you are a returning Instructional Rec or Future Juniors player and refer a friend who has NOT participated we will take $10 off your registration fee.
