GENERAL FAQ

Who may participate in Hampshire Youth Football & Cheerleading Association? 

  • Athletes that will be attending Hampshire High School in the future.

How will we know when football practices or games are cancelled due to weather conditions? 

  • HYF&C will only cancel league wide functions when the weather poses a danger to the athletes. Families will be notified VIA email or text message of any cancelations.

What football league do the Whip-Purs belong to?

  • HYF&C is a member of Chicagoland Pop Warner

What cheer organization do the Whip-Purs belong?

  • Whip-Purs Cheer is a member of both Chicagoland Pop Warner and will also compete in various other local competitions.

Refund Policy

  • Full Refunds will be given up until the start of practice August 1st. 

Are there tryouts?

  • No! We welcome athletes of all skill levels to join our football and cheer teams.

What team will my athlete be on?

  • Teams are largely determined by the athlete’s age and, in the case of football, weight. Our board will place athletes on the appropriate team.

What is included in registration cost?

  • For Football, registration includes a personalized jersey and camp shirt that players will keep at the end of the season. We also provide a football helmet, shoulder pads, padded game pants,  rib guards and practice jersey.
  • For Cheer, registration includes a camp shirt, a cheer uniform (spanks, socks, both game day and competition bows) registration to multiple competitions and competition gifts. Cheerleaders will get to keep their spanks, socks, bows, competition gifts and camp shirt. 

How long is the season?

  • Our season begins August 1st and is concluded at the beginning of December. 

How often is practice?

  •  Football will begin practices August 1st. Practices will be 4-5 nights a week for approximately 2 hours each night until school starts. After school starts, teams will practice 3 nights a week for approximately 2 hours. All practices are held outdoors, unless there is a weather cancellation.
  • Cheer also begins practices August 1st. Squads will practice 3-4 nights a week for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours each practice.

Where is/are practices and home games held?

  • Practices and home games are played on our home field at Hampshire Middle School. Cheer practices will also be held at Hampshire Middle School and or Hampshire High School.

Where are away games and/or cheer competitions?

  • Both away games and cheer competitions are within the Chicagoland area, typically within an hour’s drive and some locations are much closer!

How do you select coaches? 

  • Coaches are selected each year after an interview process and board approval. 

Are coaches trained?

  • Yes! All of our football coaches are trained and certified through USA Football, and Pop Warner.
  • Cheer Coaches receiving training through Pop Warner and YCADA. 

Do you perform background checks on the coaches? 

  • Yes.  All volunteers have to complete a background screening. 

Are trainers present at games?

  • Yes! A trained athletic trainer is present at all home and away games.

How can I volunteer? 

  • HYF&C is run entirely by volunteers and your help is greatly appreciated. A volunteer form will be included in your registration packet, and will describe the specific areas where you can help out.
