Academy General Information

Strikers FC is excited to announce a change to the Academy Program. Strikers Academy will include all U8, U9 and U10 boys and girls (ages 7 through 9 years old by August 1). It is designed for all players ranging from the novice to the U10 player who is preparing for competitive soccer at U11. Academy teams will play in the Indiana Champions League.

According to Indiana Youth Soccer (IYS), "An Academy is when a club keeps a collection of players within an age group as opposed to placing them on individual teams. Academies do not cut or try-out and all players are encouraged to participate. There are not A, B, and C teams and players instead, stay in pools and can be moved according to their progress and development through the seasonal year. The emphasis on this is, developing players and having FUN! This approach allows clubs to grow players in a pool, foster development over winning, and to let these young players play freely. Each club's academy then plays non-result oriented competition against other clubs to organize a "Developmental Academy League".

The Strikers FC Academy focuses on the development of every player, instead of teams at those young ages, as recommended by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). The primary reason for the development of individual players is to teach/develop technical, tactical, physical, and psychological skills needed to play at higher levels in the future while having fun.

Goals for the Strikers FC Academy:

  • Help foster the individual ball skills, creativity and love of the game that will create exciting soccer players to play on successful teams and will, in turn, help players reach the next level of play.
  • Provide developing players the optimal environment to learn the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological skills needed to play the game at higher levels.
  • Make sure that all players are being appropriately challenged according to their skill level. All players are evaluated throughout the season to make sure they are developing.
  • Help the players develop a true love and passion for the game of soccer.
  • Promote good sportsmanship and a fun learning environment.

The Academy program is the perfect transition for families and players from the recreational program! There are no “tryouts” for the Academy Travel Teams. All players are accepted and placed into “like” environments where they can develop their skills and knowledge of the game. Players in this program are trained by coaches two days a week at Brandywine Park in Greenfield, Indiana.

Academy Travel Teams will participate in 8 games during the Fall season and 5 games in the Spring plus Indiana Cup Tournament (3 games).  Some teams may decide to play in more tournaments at an additional cost. The fee  is $250 per season (Spring Season and Fall Season). Scholarships are available.

Fees Include:

· Two training sessions per week

· Player registration within appropriate league

· Insurance through the Indiana Youth Soccer Association

· League Games

Our coaching staff includes area high school coaches, and other dedicated licensed coaches. Our mission is to provide all players the opportunity to develop their soccer skills and fall in love with the game.  Character and good sportsmanship are our highest priority and all players, parents and coaches are required to sign the clubs code of conduct.

The Greenfield Area Soccer Club exists because of a dedicated group of volunteers whose goal is to provide the best travel program possible for our players and parents.

The Indiana Youth Soccer Association has requested all soccer clubs to adhere to the policy below and provide this information.   A competitive travel player is signing up with the club for a  one year commitment.  The club has the right  to hold the player to this one year commitment upon the signing of a registration form or the payment of a fee or portion of the club fee.

This commitment begins with the Fall season.  (If you play in the Fall you are committing to the club for the Spring season.  You will not go to another club for the Spring season.)

All players must register online at ww.greenfieldsoccer.org. Scroll down the home page to the register icon. Click on this icon and follow the steps.
