AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

We offer many levels of play for all ages.  Players of any age and ability level should be able to find a level that is appropriate for them.  Spring Valley Little League goes to great lengths to ensure each child is placed on a team with his/her peers.

Frequently Asked Questions:

When are games usually played?  All teams should have at least one game on Saturday and 1 game during the week except for TBall.

What is "League Age"?
League Age is defined by Little League Baseball as the actual age of a child on August 31 of the current year.  The League Age determines the level(s) that the player is eligible for. League Age can be found using the Little League Calculator.

Equipment -- At a minimum, your child will need a baseball glove, a bat, and a helmet. If your player does not have their own bat and helmet and you are unable to obtain one, the Manager will have some gear as part of his equipment bag.  The League will provide a uniform shirt, socks, and hat. He or she will also need baseball pants, but you should hold off purchasing these because the coach may want to coordinate with the color of the shirt. Boys will also need to wear a protective cup while playing (even Tee Ball and Caps). Only rubber cleats are permitted in Majors and below.

If you registered before the waitlist is activated, you should expect to be contacted by your Manager/Coach in late January or early February.

Tee Ball
Tee Ball is primarily for ages 4 through 6 years of age, to participate in an instructional environment where the priority is on teaching the basics of hitting, running, catching, and throwing a baseball. Players in Tee Ball games hit off a batting tee.  All players bat once every inning and an emphasis is placed on playing multiple positions in the field during the game.

What do I need to know about Tee Ball?

Schedule -- The Spring regular season usually starts in early March and generally runs through the first or second week in June. Weather permitting, practices start a couple of weeks before the regular season. Tee ball teams play one game per week on Saturdays and have one maybe two practices each week. Practices are coordinated through the Manager.

Games are subject to a time limit
 – Games are 3 innings or 60 minutes of play.

Caps

The season starts with Machine Pitch and is for League ages 6 through 8.  Players participate in an instructional environment where the priority is on teaching the basics of hitting, running, catching, and throwing a baseball. All players bat in a continuous batting order and 10 players can play in the field and there is an emphasis placed on playing multiple positions in the field during the game.  Sometime around the 10th game we remove the pitching machine and go to a player/coach pitch scenario.

Caps Schedule -- The Spring regular season usually starts in early March and generally runs through the first or second week in June. Weather permitting, practices start a couple of weeks before the regular season. Players are selected to teams based on a draft.  Players who are 8 years old and have baseball experience can be assessed for placement in the Minors division upon their parents’ request. Those not selected for a Minors team will be assigned to a Caps team.  All teams still bat a continuous batting order (with all players reporting for a game batting sequentially before the order returns to the top of the lineup), but players are only guaranteed to play 6 defensive outs, and there is no requirement that players play an infield position on defense.
