SOFTBALL COMPLEX

Posted Nov 15, 2014

Vancouver Girls Softball Association (VGSA) has been serving the youth of SW Washington since 1963. Since its inception, VGSA has been dedicated to providing a place for young women to develop self-confidence and a sense of team effort through the game of fastpitch softball.

VGSA maintains and operates the Salmon Creek Sports Complex within the boundries of the Salmon Creek Greenway, an enviromental preserve that is part of the Clark County Park System. The Salmon Creek Greenway also includes Salmon Creek County Park and the Salmon Creek Trail.

Salmon Creek Park, immediately to the east of the complex, offers picnicing, fishing and swimming. The Salmon Creek Trail begins at Salmon Creek Park and follows the creek around the north end of the sports complex and continues west for another two miles along the creek, ending at NW 36th Ave. The 10 foot wide paved trail offers biking, jogging, walking and wildlife viewing opportunities. Ducks, geese, bald eagles, hawks, osprey, blue heron, pond turtles, and beaver dams are all commonly seen in the park and along the trail.

Because of it's location in a designated greenspace the Salmon Creek Sports Complex has no lighting for night games.

VGSA maintains four full size regulation fields for regular league and tournament play.  There is also a smaller Training League field and an auxilliary field, (Field 5) that can be used for overflow and practice games. In 2009, fields 1 through 4 were completely redone to improve drainage and add warning lanes along the back field fence lines.  Thanks, to a generous donation from The T.O.D.A.Y Foundation, wireless scoreboards were also installed in 2016.

VGSA operates a full service concession stand at the Sports Complex offering hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, soft pretzels, ice cream, popcorn, chips, and candy, plus a full range of hot and cold beverages on all game days. On week-ends breakfast offerings include fresh fruit cups, biscuits and gravy and breakfast sandwiches. We do our best to offer a wide range of food choices at reasonable prices.

Restrooms are located at the front entrance and in the rear of the concession stand. Porta potties are also located near Field 5 and the Training League field.

On tournament week-ends VGSA occasionally offers specialty t-shirts and sweatshirts for sale, and a professional sports photographer is on hand to capture your team's winning moments.

VGSA has negotiated hotel discounts for out of area teams. A list of properties and a map relating their location to the Sports Complex can be found here: Motels and Lodging

Driving directions to the Salmon Creek Sports Complex can be found here: Directions

While there is room for parking RV's at the Complex during games Clark County Parks policy does not allow overnight camping.

Dogs are allowed on the Salmon Creek Trail and at the Sports Complex, but must be leashed at all times per Clark County Parks policy. Please respect others and clean up after your pet. A pet waste station with a plastic bag dispenser is located at the front entrance of the complex. Dogs are NOT allowed in Salmon Creek Park.
