Welcome to Bay City Southwest Little League!
NEW FOR 2026!
All minor league teams will have thier roster carry over each season! Coaches may protect their child, and an assistant coaches child. Only new players to Southwest LL will be required to attend evaluations prior to the start of the season and will be drafted to a team. This only applies for MINOR and MAJOR divisions, not machine/coach pitch or tee-ball. There will also be TWO 10 year-old tournament teams for 2026. There will still only be ONE 11 year-old and ONE 12 year-old All Star team selected.
Player evaluations
Player evaluations for NEW minor and major league players only will take place on February 1st, 2026. Time will be announced as we get closer.
Field Clean-up
Our field clean up days will be in April 2026. Stay tuned for the date! It takes a village to get 4 fields ready for baseball after the winter months. We encourage you to give us a hand with this task and in return, we'll reimburse you $25.00 cash for 4 hours of your time during one of those days. You must sign in and out to be paid and the signup sheet will be in the office.
Opening Ceremonies
Our opening ceremonies and parade will be take place the first week of games in 2026 You will receive more information from your coach or by email/facebook as it gets closer. All players are to be in full uniform. It is not mandatory to participate but highly recommended. It is a short event but it is a Southwest tradition.
Concession Sign-ups
Our concession stand is operated by volunteers. Each player's parent, grandparent, sibling(16 or older) or guardian is required to work two, 2 hr shifts per player. We will reimburse you $20 per shift. You may work as many shifts as you want and you could potentially have your full registration fee reimbursed. We use "Sign up Genius" to fill the available time slots needed. That will be first come, first served so make sure to sign up as soon as we announce that the website is ready, which will be within the next couple of weeks. Also, if you have a child 16 or older that would like to work anytime in the concession please contact me. They will be paid the $20 per shift as well.
Raffle Tickets
EVERY player will sell 10-$5 Raffle tickets. This is a mandatory fundraiser and the only one done during the season. Tickets will be handed out by the team Manager prior to opening day. Please turn in the money and ticket stubs to your team mom, not the office. You may sell more if you choose but the initial 10 ticket stubs and money must be returned first. You can get more tickets in the office when it is open.
Trash/Clean-up
Please use the trash cans and pop recycle bins located at each field, your participation helps keep our fields looking their best. It is ALL of the team's responsibility, except tball to empty the trash bins on all 4 fields each week after the last game on Tuesdays. Parents, please do your part so your coaches do not have to. The trash cans can be driven up to the dumpster in a pick up truck and then returned to their location after dumping. The trash schedule will be shared with each team prior to opening day.
Safety
Please be cautious and drive slow in the our parking, local streets and parking lots. You never know when a child will dart out from between parked cars.
Umpires
Stay tuned for exciting information related to umpires for the 2026 season! Please contact any board member if you would be interested in becoming an Umpire. There is a link to Umpire Training through the Little League Organization under the "Umpire" menu option on BCSWLL website.
Mandatory Forms
It is a requirement set forth by LITTLE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL that 60% of our league members are required to fill out the volunteer form. PLEASE, PLEASE take the time and do this for us even if you do not plan to volunteer. EVERY team manager and their 2 coaches must do this before they have any interaction with an individual or team. That form is on the website where you registered your player. It is a safe and secure site and is only seen by Little League International partner JDP. They conduct the background checks which helps us to keep children out of harm's way. Also, new this year, everyone who volunteers MUST complete an Abuse Awareness course. Please forward your certificate to me upon completion. The link is provided on the Bay City Southwest Little League Website, under "Volunteers". Here is the link to the course as well: https://www.littleleague.org/player-safety/child-protection-program/safesport-resources-parents/
Game Days
All regular games will be played Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Monday's and Friday's will be make-up days due to games being postponed due to weather. You will be notified by your team manager if your game is cancelled and rescheduled. I make that call about 2 pm if it looks questionable and I contact all managers. They will then contact their team.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. Thank you for doing your part to make BCSWLL a continued success !!
Best Regards,
Jill Stapish/President
