Little League Age Information

Hello, Southwest Little League parents! My name is Lance Bushnell and I am the SWLL Player Agent. Today I want to help you understand a subject that some parents find a little confusing: League Age. In the simplest of terms your child's League Age is how old your child will be on this year's age cut-off date, which is 31 August, 2024. So, if your child's birthdate is 1 January, 2012, he would be considered a 12-year-old for this season. And if his birthdate is 8 September, 2015, he would be considered an 8-year-old for this season.

Where this can sometimes cause confusion is if a child has a birthday later in the summer: July or August, for instance. Our regular season typically ends in mid-June, so a child could play the whole season at a League Age that is a year older than he or she actually is. As an example, a child born in July 4, 2015 would be League Age 9 even though he wouldn't become a 9-year-old until after the season ended!

If you want to see what your child's Little League Age is, you can visit the 2024 Little League Age Chart. Simply locate the month of your child's birthday, skim down to the year he/she was born, and then look at the age in the red box to the right of the line.
