FALL SOCCER:
Hi everyone. Governor Baker put forth regulations pertaining to sports such as soccer deemed moderate risk. The soccer board met about these regulations and what it means for town soccer. We’ve determined that its not feasible to hold league games. We find the modifications to the game that are necessary to comply are unreasonable. We expect the travel league to decide the same thing and cancel Fall Travel games. We want to offer what we can and the regulations are easier to follow for training than for games. So we have decided to offer training and scrimmages on Saturdays this fall instead of games. What will this look like?
Players from mini kickers up to 8th grade will be assigned into a group of 10. (the max allowed to practice together). This will be their group for the season. They are not allowed to move between groups.
Groups will be assigned to a coach. We’ll be hiring coaches from the club NEFC to run training. We may also have to fill in with some of the more experienced parent coaches depending on #s. If you are one of these more qualified parent coaches and you’d like to help out please contact me.
Players are limited to 1 parent attending.
Training times will be separated by ½ hr to limit any overlap with arriving and leaving.
The snack shack will not be open. Bathrooms will be open and there will be hand sanitizer in each and they will be cleaned often throughout the day.
Upon arrival kids will go to their assigned training field. There will be markings for the kids to put any gear, water bottle, etc. These will be spaced at least 6 ft apart.
Parents, coaches and kids need to wear a mask at all times. (yes, while playing so please know this before agreeing to participate). The only time the mask can be removed is when drinking water.
Kids should wear their 2 sided jersey over a t-shirt so they can change from white to blue easily. There will be no pinnies. If its your first time playing we’ll provide one. They can be purchased if a replacement is needed.
For the first ½ hr we will have skills practice. Each kid should have their own ball. Balls should not be shared.
For the 2nd ½ hr the kids will scrimmage within their group with modified rules. No throw ins. No walls. No hard tackles or shoulder to shoulder contact.
At the end of practice everyone should leave the field promptly with no lingering to limit any overlap with other groups.
We fully understand this isn’t ideal. But we’re trying to make the best of the situation and give the kids the ability to get outside and play.
The price is going to be dropped to $50.. If you’ve already registered and paid you will be refunded the difference. We’ll adjust credits for those who used a credit already.
TOPS (The Outreach Program for Soccer)
TOPSSoccer is a remarkable program that is for athletes with disabilities that are unable to participate in their local soccer programs. TopSoccer is run in Stoughton at the Kolz fields, 501 West Street. This program has been running for 7 years. The athlete's ages are 4 and up. With the great support of Stoughton Youth Soccer, Vargas and Vargas Insurance, and Kohl's, this program is offered for free. Hardship Fund
Holbrook Avon Youth Soccer Association is proud to announce the we have established a Hardship Fund for families in need of assistance. It is the policy of HAYSA that no child should be denied the opportunity to play soccer due to a family's financial situation. In these hard times in which families deal with financial difficulties due to a parent losing their job or having health concerns afffecting their ability to work, we wanted to establish a fund in which parents can request assistance in paying league fees. HAYSA is run 100% by volunteer effort. The requirement for accepting a Hardship Fund scholarship is at least 1 parent is required to volunteer during the soccer season. This may be as a coach, concessions, fundraising, field maintenance, etc. Failure to volunteer may result in forfeiture of this assistance.
How does this work?
The application forms can be found here. The application is something that is handled with complete confidentiality. The request is mailed to the Treasurer of HAYSA. The parent simply fills out the form with basic information on the player/family and a brief description of the families particular financial needs. HAYSA requires that these requests are in by August 24th for the fall season and November 15 for the winter/spring season so decisions can be made before the season begins. We can not guarantee that we can grant all requests in full and may not be able to grant some at all. Our hope however, is that each request be met.
Once the Treasurer has decided who to grant money to and how much, the parent will be notified of the amount they will be given and how to register.
We have established an ability to grant funds, but do accept contributions to this fund both personally or by sponsors.
