NGYFA passes new rule for Hall County player eligibilty

Posted Feb 15, 2018

Where do you sign up?

The NGYFA approved amendments to Rule 1.5 which determines player eligibility for a given football/cheer program on 02/15/2018. This rule clarifies which football program you will need to register with if your child is attending a Hall County Elementary School.

Addition to Rule 1.5

C. Players attending a Hall County Elementary that is a feeder school for more than one High School must participate in the program associated with their districted High School, according to the address they are registered with Hall County Schools. Hall County School registration documentation will be the sole source of validation and must match the football program registration records.
D. Players who are attending a Hall County elementary school for which they are not districted under the privilege granted to Full-Time/Certified Hall County School employees may participate in the programs that the school feeds.
E. Players that attend an NGYFA affiliated Elementary School but are not districted for a NGYFA affiliated High School, may play for the NGYFA program in Hall County closest to their school certified home address.

So, what does this mean?

Unless you are a Hall County School Employee, it's pretty simple...

Middle School

If you are in Middle School, the rules remain the same as always... you can either go to the program that corresponds to where you live, or the High School your Middle School feeds.

Elementary School

All the elementary schools that feed Flowery Branch, Cherokee Bluffs, and Johnson's football and cheer programs are what we call "mixed feeders." That means that the district lines for the Elementary Schools cross over the district lines of multiple High Schools. Previously, the NGYFA permitted you to attend any football program that your attended school fed in to. This is no longer the case. Now, the elementary school that you attend doesn't play into the picture for you one bit. Whatever address you have ON FILE with your school (the address you will enter when you register for the 2018-2019 school year) is, you may ONLY participate with the program associated with the High School you are districted to attend.

So, if your home address at the beginning of next school year is disticted for Flowery Branch High School, you may sign up with the Flowery Branch Junior Falcons to play football/cheer. If your address is for Cherokee Bluffs, or is for Johnson, you may NOT sign up for the Flowery Branch Junior Falcons. It's that simple. Once you are registered for the 2018-2019 school year, you will be required to pull a specific form from infinite campus that shows your primary address of registration. That address MUST match exactly with the address you use to register for football/cheer. AND, that address MUST be in the Flowery Branch High School District. No other documents (utility bills, etc...) will be acceptable anymore.

Hall County School Employees

If you are a full-time or certified employee Hall County School Corporation and are using the waiver program to have your child attend the school at which you teach, the rules are a little different. The parents should sign their child up with the football/cheer program that corresponds with where they intend to eventually matriculate. Again, this MUST be one of the High Schools for which their Elementary School is a feeder.

How do I check the High School district for my address?

An onlne web site now online to help you determine your high school district. Click on the link below. This will take you to the Hall County Schools web site, where you can find the link to the locator, as well as a video to help you use it.

REMEMBER!!!

* You MUST enter in the primary address that you will be registering your child with for school in 2018.
* That address MUST be districted for Johnson High School.
* You MUST use this address to register to participate in our program.
* You WILL BE REQUIRED to provide the documentation from the school system indicating your registered address prior to playing!

Examples

Non-Hall County School Employees (pretty much everybody...)

1) A student attends South Hall Middle School. The player must register with the Johnson Junior Knights.

2) A student attends Chestnut Mountain Elementary, which is a triple feeder for Johnson, Flowery Branch and Cherokee Bluff. Their registered home address is in the Johnson School District. They must register with the Jr. Knights.

3) A student attends Chestnut Mountain Elementary, which is a triple feeder for Johnson, Flowery Branch and Cherokee Bluff. The parents are divorced, with joint custody. The mothers address is in the Cherokee Bluff High School district. The father’s address is in the Johnson High School district. If the parents intend to eventually attend Johnson High School, they need to designate that the Father's address is the primary address when registering their child for school in the 2018-2019 school year. This declares the matriculation path for the student into the Johnson High School, thereby establishing the player’s eligibility with to register with the Jr Knights. The supporting documentation of the student’s address on file with the Hall County Schools must match the registration address used when signing up. Any other documentation (divorce decree, proof of residence, etc.) is only potentially relevant to the school as part of their address validation process.

4) A student attends Martin Elementary under the magnet program, which is a dual feeder for Johnson and Flowery Branch. Their registered address is in the West Hall School district, which does not have an NGYFA program. Their address is physically closer to Johnson High School than to Flowery Branch High School. They are eligible to play for the NGYFA as Martin Elementary is an NGYFA affiliated elementary school. Because their address is closest to the Johnson High School, they must sign up for with the Jr Knights.

Hall County Schools Employee

1) A student attends Chestnut Mountain Elementary, which is a feeder for Johnson, Flowery Branch and Cherokee Bluff. Their registered home address is in the Cherokee Bluffs School District. Their parent is a Hall County Schools employee. The parents declare that the student will eventually matriculate to Johnson High School. The student should be signed up with the Jr Knights.

2) A student attends Martin Elementary, which is a feeder for Flowery Branch and Johnson. Their registered home address is in the West Hall High School District. Their parent is a Hall County Schools employee. The parents declare that the student will eventually matriculate to Johnson High School instead of FB High School. They should register with the Jr Knights.
