We are proud and excited to bring you the Morris County Youth Soccer Association (MCYSA) Summer Select program. This program is open to any and all soccer players that live in Morris County. We are trying to determine age groups and teams, but we hope to have at least four teams this summer:
- U-13 Boys (entering eighth grade this September)
- U-14 Boys (entering high school this September)
- U-15 Boys (entering their sophomore year of high school this September)
- U-16/17 Boys (entering junior/senior year of high school this September)
- U-16/17 Girls (entering junior/senior year of high school this September)
If there is enough demand, we will add teams at younger age groups, but we need to know if there is interest for this as soon as possible.
It is imperative that we are able to get teams formed and commitments from players/parents as quickly as possible in order to complete rosters, tournament registrations, and begin player carding.
Tryouts: TBA - Tryouts will be conducted the weekend of March 25/26 or the week of March 27 based on field availability at a location in Morris County to be announced
Player Checklist (What we will need):
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Player Photo (head shot only)
- MCYSA Summer Select Registration/Release form
- Registration Fee
Tentative Summer 2018 Tournament Schedule :
3 - Regional Tournaments (NJ/NY/PA)
These events will be confirmed by May 1, but hopefully sooner. Both out of state tournaments are commutable and would not require a hotel room, although you are more than welcome to make a weekend out of them and stay in the area. Our goal and focus will be on the training beginning in June to prepare the players for each tournament. You can read more about the Summer Select Program’s objective included in this informational packet.
Training:
Training sessions will take place at a location to be announced in Morris County. Training will begin the week of June 19, and there will be two practices a week for the four weeks of the program (8 total training sessions). Locations, days, and times will be confirmed once finalized, but we will try to strike a balance with the days of the practice to meet everyone’s needs and different schedules to the best of our ability.

MCYSA Summer Select
Objective:
We are looking to create summer select teams to compete in two or three tournaments throughout the tri-state area during the months of June and July. The overall purpose of this program is to get players to train and play in competitive environments that will increase their overall playing ability, and also serve to bridge the gap between the spring season and the high school season (or the fall season for younger players). Players can expect to increase their technical ability, tactical awareness, and also fitness, while gaining confidence. We also think it is important to remember that these players are still kids and we want them to have fun and play the game that they love in the summertime.
Having players work with other motivated players and competing during training and games will prepare them for their soccer futures. This program will not only benefit the club and high school teams in our area, but will hopefully allow players to fuel their passion for soccer and earn the right to play at a higher level.
