I started playing ball at the age of 4 at the t-ball level, once I hit U6 I was playing rec and travel all the way up to U16. At U12 I added a state travel team which I also played through U16. I was a 4 year varsity payer in high school, during my JR. and SR. year I was honored to make the Maryland State all star game. Also during this time I played in an adult league during the summer and fall. I was offered scholarships to play at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Chesapeake college. Due to unfortunate circumstances I had to turn down both offers.
After High school I enlisted in the US ARMY. While in the army I played on an adult team that played teams within our base, it wasn't very organized but just being on the field has its own special feeling that only a few can relate with.
All of my youth training was through "The Ripken way" with a lot of training with Cal Ripken Sr. Former Orioles manager and father to Cal Ripkin Jr. and Billy Ripkin. At the age of 9, I started practicing on my own in my backyard with whatever I could find for 4-5 hours every night when there wasn't baseball practice.
In 2012 I started coaching my son and I've been coaching ever since with ages 6u -14u at all levels, rec, travel, and elite.
Our goal here at Defenders baseball is to develop your child on the field to be ready for the next level in their playing career, while developing them off the field to grow up to be amazing young men and woman.
