The Recreational League is for any child who is interested in participating in soccer at the recreational level and meets the age requirements. Boys and girls are separated at this point. Volunteers are required to help coach as we are a volunteer organization. We will accept players from surrounding towns where room is available.
Teams will be formed by assigned coaches and balanced out as equally as possible. At this level we attempt to afford all young players an opportunity to participate in this game and have fun while they learn to enjoy the finer points and skills of soccer. All participants are guaranteed 50% playing time.
Requirements: cleats, shinguards, and appropriate athetic wear (shorts, no jewelry, no chewing gum, minimal hair stuff for girls - no plastic headbands), water bottle and soccer ball. They will be given team shirt at the first week of practice. Pre-K/Kinder - Size 3 soccer ball, U7/U8 - Size 4, U10 - U12 - size 4 ball, U14 - size 5.
Volunteers: We will need parents to step up and help with all of these programs as we are a volunteer organization. If we are unable to secure coaches/assistants we may not be able to offer certain programs. Please consider helping out!
Registration fees: Cover cost of jersey, UK Training Staff, referees, tournaments, field maintainance & equipment, and general program costs.
U7 Program:
Designed for 1st graders. Practices are held once a week with scrimmages on Saturdays. Boys and Girls may be separated or run Co-Ed depending on numbers. Children are under the guidance of a UK International coach. Parent volunteer assistant coaches are also introduced to the children at this age. Generally play small sided 4v4 games, with the focus on individual ball control, foot skills, and general soccer fundamentals. Players will begin to learn team dynamics and the very basic rules of the game.
Cost for U7 program: $90.00 per player
The U8 program:
Designed for 2nd graders. Practices are held twice a week and games on Saturdays. Generally play small sided 4v4 to 5v5 games, with the focus on individual ball control, foot skills, and general soccer fundamentals. Players will begin to learn team dynamics and the rules of the game in preparation for the competitive soccer programs.
Cost for U8 program: $90.00 per player
The U10 - U14 Programs:
U10 is designed for 3rd & 4th graders, U12 is designed for 5th & 6th graders, and U14 is for 7th & 8th graders.
All teams U10 and up will participate in our district and will travel a limited amount. Each team will usually have 4 home and 4 away games and typically one local tournament at these age groups is encouraged. At this level we play 7v7 games against other teams in our district. Practices are twice a week with games being held on Saturdays. Practice days for teams will be dependent on the coaches availability and determined once teams are made and coaches are secured. Game schedules are made at the district scheduling meeting in early April and later August.
Cost for programs: $100.00 per player
Details: Children that played in the fall should already have a jersey. Newly registered players will receive a jersey to keep at start of season. Size 4 ball is used for U10-U12, size 5 for U14s. Players are expected to wear appropriate soccer gear to each practice and game. Cleats, shinguards are mandatory, children are asked to bring a ball and water to every practice. Black shorts, socks, and their team jersey are to be worn for games. NO jewelry of any kind is allowed anytime during soccer.
