2023 Somersworth Little League Baseball Season Registration HAS CLOSED!
Somersworth Baseball has been established for over 50 years, and we have the honor of continuing the rich tradition of this league in Somersworth, NH in 2023! Each of those years would not be possible without the dedication of our sponsors, coaches, umpires, parents, board members, and other volunteers. We are very thankful for all of you and look forward to another great season!
Somersworth Little League allows for Somersworth, Rollinsford, Dover, Rochester, and Gonic residents to participate in our league based on our league rules. We never want to turn a player away and want to make sure that every kid has the opportunity to play in Little League to experience the wonderful tradition that Little League has to offer.
Somersworth Little League currently consists of 3 different divisions:
1) Tee-Ball Ages 4-6
Tee-Ball has historically been a once a week commitment with the primary goal of teaching the basic fundamentals of baseball and preparing players to play at the Little League Minors level.
2) Little League Minors Ages 7-9
Little League Minors meets a bit more frequently with games and practices each week. The general goal of this division is to continue to build on the fundamentals of baseball making them more concrete and teaching more on the general play of the game and its rules. After Little League Minors, players should be better prepared to move on to Little League Majors.
3) *Little League Majors Ages 9-12
Little League Majors meets similarly to Little League Minors for games and practices. Practices may be a bit longer to dive more into specific teachings such as batting, fielding, base running, rules of play, and situational decision making.
At this level, players also have the opportunity to play on an All Star team after the regular season (not everyone will be necessarily selected who wants to play based on number of players interested). These team(s) will be able to compete with neighboring leagues in New Hampshire with the potential to compete with other teams in New England and beyond based on how far the team(s) advance in their respective tournament(s).
Beyond this, the goal of this league is to train up players to be ready to play in the next league after Little League Majors.
Overarching all these divisions is the goal to teach players important character traits, skills, and lessons to be carried beyond baseball into whatever avenue of life a player pursues. We hope to see everyone have fun and enjoy the season and do it with respect, integrity, hard work, team work, self control, and selflessness. We look forward to another great season full of wonderful memories!
For more questions, please reach out to a current board member.
* Players in age groups 8-10 that wish to play in the Majors division may be asked to play in the Minors division dependent on roster needs in both divisions and skill level concerns with regards to the safety of the player. For new players at the Majors level, there will be a day scheduled to assess those players skills for this purpose as well as proper team placement for those moving up.
