CLIO YOUTH FOOTBALL ANNOUNCEMENT
REGARDING CORONA VIRUS

Clio Youth Football is closely monitoring the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, which was first reported in the Hubei province in China and has now spread to a growing number of countries, including the United States.

We are taking the situation very seriously. We are supporting and following the Governor's latest directives and safety initiatives to help protect our community.  The directive to close Michigan schools for the next three weeks has impacted our ability to both promote and distribute important information through the schools.  Therefore we are in danger of not having enough participation in time to have a spring flag program.

We will continue to assess the situation, communicate with our partners, and follow the guidance of our elected officials. We will then communicate our plan for the schedule for spring season, and all other logistics necessary to help the children in our program have a successful time playing the game they love.
We appreciate your participation in the league and will again be as transparent as possible while we work through this Coronavirus Pandemic.

General Information

Registration Fees: Multi-child discounts and payment plans are available.

Tackle Football : $150.00 (includes 1 Game Jersey, certified helmet & shoulder pads supplied)

Tackle Cheer : $100.00 (includes 1 warm up suit)

Flag Football : $75.00 (includes 1 reversible jersey)

Tackle Football Divisions:

Your child's tackle football division will be based on their grade. Cheerleaders will be assigned based on grade.

We are weighing in before each game so your child's position availability could change from week to week if they are close to "Lineman" Weight

Freshman:  Limited to 3rd and 4th Graders (with the 8yr old exceptions).

 if player weighs under 125 pounds (with equipment including helmet) they are able to run the ball. If a player weighs over 125 pounds (with equipment including helmet) you are required to play offensive or defensive line only (inside the tackle boxes).

Junior Varsity:  Limited to 5th & 6th Graders

Note: if a player weighs under 145 pounds (with equipment including helmet) they are able to run the ball. If a player weighs over 145 pounds (with equipment including helmet) you are required to play offensive or defensive line only (inside the tackle boxes).

Flag Football 

1^ST/2^ND Grade Flag:

Limited to players 5 and 6 years of age, who do not turn 7 years of age on or before December 31 of this year.

3^rd / 4^th Grade Flag:

Limited to players 7 and 8 years of age, who do not turn 9 years of age on or before December 31 of this year.

5^TH /6^TH  Grade Flag:

Limited to players 11 and 12 years of age, who do not turn 13 years of age on or before December 31 of this year.

Tackle Football:

Helmet (with Chin Strap)

Shoulder Pads  

A Game Jersey is included with sign-up fees and is kept by participants at the end of the season.

NOTE : Any personal equipment to be used in place of the provided equipment (chin strap, shoulder pads) as well as some of additional equipment like those listed below (face-mask shields), must be inspected and approved by the CYF Field Commissioner before being used.

Tackle Cheer:

·         Skirt/Vest Uniform

·         Warm-Ups are included with sign-up fees and are kept by participants at the end of the season.

Flag Football:

·         Flag Belt

·         Reversible jersey with NFL Team logos and colors are kept by participants at the end of the season.

Additional Equipment: FOOTBALL - The following items are not provided by the Clio Youth Football

Mouth Guard (REQUIRED) - Mouth guards should be of a solid color with straps to allow it to be connected to the helmet's face shield. Clear or White mouth guards and those without straps are not allowed per MYFL rules. The mouth guard should be cut back and fitted to cover all of the teeth.

Game Pants with integrated pads (REQUIRED) must be color black (any brand)

Jock/Cup (REQUIRED)

Cleats - (See allowed football cleat types below)

Socks- Solid White Over the Calf Socks

Gloves/Forearm Guards - (See allowed football glove types below)

Face-Mask Shields (Not Recommended) - Clear face mask shields are allowed for eye protection. Shaded masks of any type are not allowed.

Towels/Handmuffs - Allowed per league rules but cannot be yellow in color.

Cold Weather Gear - Most cold weather gear is allowed. Recommended to not wear any hooded sweatshirts (keep hood under pads/jersey if used).

Cleats:

All purpose cleats, turf or gym shoes must be worn by all players. Removable cleats with no longer than ½ inch are allowed. Shoes with metal cleats or removable metal tips are prohibited. Players must wear acceptable cleats at official check in. The kicker may put on a kicking shoe while on the sideline.

Gloves/Forearm Guards:

The gloves and guards have to have the tag NOCSAE on the cuff. Most Nike brand youth gloves/guards meet this standard, whereas Under Armour youth gloves do not. If you purchase a glove/guard without the NOCSAE tag, your child would not be allowed to wear them in the game. This is a MHSAA mandated rule. Look for a tag like this on the equipment.

As a reminder there are entry fees this year for all games home & away.

• Coaches and Players are Free. 55 and Over and 5 and Under are Free.
• It is $3 per person for everyone else and if you have 4 or more family members coming in at one time it is $10.
• Tackle Please arrive to your location 1.5 hours prior to your game.
• Cheer please arrive to your location 1 hour prior to your game.
• Flag please arrive to your location 30 minutes prior to your game.
