The US Center for SafeSport is a national organization focused on creating a safe and respectful sporting environment for all young athletes through education and outreach. SafeSport also provides a medium to make a child abuse report and provides numerous fact sheets, articles and downloadable educational resources for parents and coaches.
SafeSport Mission
The SafeSport mission is to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of our nation's sports culture.
SafeSport Education & Outreach
All athletes deserve to participate in sports free from bullying, hazing, sexual misconduct or any form of emotional or physical abuse. Education and awareness are the most critical components to creating safe and respectful sporting environments, free of abuse and harassment. SafeSport's team of subject matter experts has developed best practices, policies and programs consistent with guidance from leading organizations.
Resources for Coaches
SafeSport provides online training for coaches and others engaged in working with youth covering the following subjects: sexual abuse, hazing, bullying, emotional misconduct, physical misconduct, harassment (non-sexual) as well as reporting obligations.
Coaches, administrators and other volunteers who complete the three part SafeSport training course become "SafeSport Trained." NOTE: Beginning with the 2019-20 season, the completion of the 3 part "SafeSport Training" curriculum is a requirement for all coaches to card with NJ Youth Soccer and US Club Soccer in the state of NJ. Coaches must then complete an annual refresher course to maintain their SafeSport trained status.
