Big Lake Flag Football (K-2nd Grade) 2025

The BLYFA Flag Football Division is for kids going into Kindergarten, First and Second grade.

This Division is meant to teach the players basic football skills such as how to line up, catch and throw the ball properly, basic football terminology, etc. Players will be broken up into groups each practice and put through basic football drills. After the first couple of practices they will play some games for half of the practice.

Big Lake Youth Football Tackle (2nd/3rd) 2025

The BLYFA 2nd/3rd grade Division is a competitive Youth Traveling Football Program that participates in the North Star Youth Football League. Our Players will compete against other Teams from other Youth Associations in the Twin Cities North West Suburbs.

Practice will be determined by coaches and the board - days and times will be communicated at the Parent Meeting. Game schedules are determined by the North Star Youth Football League.

Registration closes July 1st, after that you will be placed on a waitlist. It will be at the board's discretion if your player is eligible to be added to the roster following the July 1st registration closing date.

Information regarding Tackle (2nd-3rd Grade) 2025 season. Please see below for important dates and additional information!!

Jersey Try-On Dates and Times:

Tuesday, June 10th. Big Lake Middle School Student Center, 5:30-7:30pm
Attention! Your player is the 1st to transition to traditional Hornet colors! We are phasing out black and yellow and introducing blue and yellow to match our varsity players. Therefore all players must attend the jersey try-on event. If you are a returning player, your jersey cost will be covered by the board.
Remember your jersey number from the previous year when ordering a new jersey if you want to keep the same number.
The cost for a new jersey this season is still TBD - we will update our Facebook page and Website when we have those details confirmed.

Equipment Hand-Out Date and Time:

Sunday, August 3rd at the Middle School Cafeteria. Each grade will have a specific time slot.
Players will officially be weighed due to ball handling rules
Mandatory Coach/Parent/Team meeting will follow the hand-out for your team this day
Volunteer deposit ($300 per family) and Equipment deposit ($200 per player) are required to be turned in during this time - please remember to bring your checkbook!!

VOLUNTEER HOURS!

You are required to complete 6 volunteer hours per family during the football season. Hours are to be completed during Spud Fest or the King of the Gridiron weekend tournament during MEA weekend. More details regarding sign-ups will come later.

Practices:

Practice will start the week of August 4th. They are typically 3-4 nights a week. You will receive an email from your parent rep regarding the practice schedule and location closer to the start of the season.
