Big Lake Youth Football Tackle (2nd/3rd) 2026

The BLYFA 2nd/3rd grade Division is a competitive Youth Traveling Football Program that participates in the North Star Youth Football League.

Registration closes July 1st, after that you will be placed on a waitlist. It will be at the board's discretion if your player is eligible to be added to the roster following the July 1st registration closing date. If you are added to the team, there will be a late fee, as well as, a fee for a rental jersey. The fee for the rental jersey will be returned at the end of the season once the rental jersey is returned.

Jersey Try-On Dates and Times:

Tues June 9th- Jersey fitting (New players and anyone who needs a new jersey) 5:00-7:00p- Middle school student center
Mon June 22rd- Jersey fitting (New player and anyone who needs a new jersey) 6:00-8:00p- Middle school student center
Remember your jersey number from the previous year when ordering a new jersey if you want to keep the same number.
The cost for a new jersey this season is still TBD - we will update our Facebook page and Website when we have those details confirmed.

Equipment Hand-Out Date and Time:

Sunday, August 2nd at the Big Lake Middle School Cafeteria. Each grade will have a specific time slot.
Players will officially be weighed due to ball handling rules
Mandatory Coach/Parent/Team meeting will follow the hand-out for your team this day
Volunteer deposit ($300 per family) and Equipment deposit ($200 per player) are required to be turned in during this time - please remember to bring your checkbook!!

VOLUNTEER HOURS!

You are required to complete 6 volunteer hours per family during the football season. Hours are to be completed during Spud Fest or the King of the Gridiron weekend tournament during MEA weekend. More details regarding sign-ups will come later.

Practices:

Practice will start the week of August 3th. They are typically 3-4 nights a week. You will receive an email from your parent rep regarding the practice schedule and location closer to the start of the season.

Games:

NEW THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!

With a shorter stretch between labor day and MEA the league voted to start games earlier. The games will start the weekend of August 29th.

Big Lake Flag Football (K-2nd Grade) 2026

The BLYFA Flag Football Division is for kids going into Kindergarten, First and Second grade.

This Division is meant to teach the players basic football skills such as how to line up, catch and throw the ball properly, basic football terminology, etc. Players will be broken up into groups each practice and put through basic football drills. After the first couple of practices they will play some games for half of the practice.

T-Shirt Hand-Out and Team Meeting Date and Time:

· Mandatory Coach/Parent/Team meeting will be held on the 1st night of practice, August 18th. Please arrive at the liberty fields around 5:30pm to get your t-shirt and be ready for the team meeting which will start promptly at 6pm.

VOLUNTEER'S

In order to provide a flag program we need VOLUNTEER coaches and parent reps. We cannot do this without you! Thank you in advance for volunteering! :)

Practices:

Practice will start Tuesday August 18th at the Liberty Elementary Fields. Address: 17901 205th Ave NW, Big Lake, MN 55309. The fields are located south east of the school. Practice will be on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6-7:30pm. There is no practice the week of Labor Day/ first week for school. The last practice will be held on October 8th with an end of the year banquet held at the practice location to celebrate.

You should receive an email from coach and/or parent Rep in regards to further details closer to the start of practice.
