Academy level soccer is a competitive program for age U8-U12.  While these are competitive teams most leagues offer several different level of competition. Teams will play other teams in the region in the same age and skill level group or division.  Teams currently play in the United Development League (UDL) and other leagues sponsored by the SC Youth Soccer Association.  All games played in the UDL are currently held in and around the Columbia Metropolitan Area. Team will also play matches with other clubs in the area from time to time that may require a little longer drive, but for the most part all league and friendly matches are within an hour’s drive.  These teams normally play around 10 to 20 games in both the fall and spring season.

Evaluations are held typically in May of each year. These evaluations allow club coaches to run the players through some drills to get a better feel for them and what program may best fit their needs.  At these age groups we try to find spots for every player, but sometimes due to not having enough players or coaches in a particular age group or if we really feel a player would better fit in another program it is not always possible to take everyone.  In such cases all effort will be made to place players either in other programs or with other clubs.

For Information about upcoming evaluations please Click Here.  These are normally held in May and again in December or early January to fill spots or add new teams.  THERE IS NO COST to take place in the evaluations and no commitment required at that time.  There will also be a short parent meeting to answer any questions.

Another thing that is different about these teams is it is a year long commitment.  Teams are formed for the club year from June 1st through early May the following year. One price covers training, field rental, referee fees, league fees and most other normal cost except uniforms (Roughly $125) and a players share of any tournament fees that their team plays in.  We are on a 2-3 year uniform cycle so new ones do not have to be purchased each year.  Tournament fees are divided equally among all player on the team so cost may vary, but are normally less then $100 a player.  Team will train 2-3 nights a week with their own licensed, background checked and paid coach.  At least one night a week while in season teams will have technical training session with a coach from Coerver Carolinas one of the top training organizations in the world.  This will help further develop their technical skills.

Each team will also play in one or more tournaments each season.  At this age group these tournaments are in state at places like, Aiken, Columbia, Spartanburg, Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Charleston and Summerville.  Players in the U8-U10 groups play 7v7 and those in the U11-U12 level play 9v9.  The focus at this level is about player development.  All measures will be taken to find a team for players wanting to participate at this level.  On average over the course of a season players should expect to play at least half the game but playing time will vary and is not guaranteed. 

Of course, with all this extra training and games there is also a higher financial commitment.  To help address this the club offers several payment plans and other assistance to help make it as affordable to as many as possible.
