Can I still register my child after the deadline date?
- Yes, you may register late, but there is a $40.00 late registration fee. There is no guarantee that a spot will be open on a team in your community and your child may have to play on a team in another community.
What is the NWO Youth Flag Football League refund policy?
- The league DOES NOT OFFER REFUNDS once the player is registered and fees are paid unless the league is unable to place the player on a team. If the league is unable to roster a player, a 100% refund will be given. we require all potential participants to fully understand the refund policy prior to registering. Refunds will not be issued due to over scheduling of the participant. Our program require a minimum commitment of three hours per week during the scheduled season. Participants that are unwilling or unable to make that commitment will not be refunded for missed practices or games. The league discourages participants from registering only on condition of specific team placement or coach assignment. In the event players are not assigned to a specific team, coach or partnered with specific players, even if requested, refunds will not be issued.
Is flag football safe?
- Too often kids are placed in a football environment where they learn to “hit” before they learn how to play the game. NWO Youth FFL/NFL Flag Football allows the kids the freedom to learn the fundamentals of the game without having to worry about burdensome equipment and unwanted contact. There are no pads, no helmets, no blocking, no pushing, no diving and no shoving. Flag football teaches the basic fundamentals of football while serving as an ideal stepping stone for those wanting to eventually join a full-contact league. Yes, flag football is safe!!!
When and where are the games?
- Games will be played on Sunday each week, starting as early as 10:00 am. All games will be played at Deter's Park in Glandorf.
When and where are the practices?
- Practices will be held at local community parks to make it easy for parents and coaches. Practices will be held once, twice, or three times per week (depending on age group) and it is up to each individual coach to determine when and where practice will be held. Coaches are encouraged to work with players' schedules since many players participate in multiple sports and all have school events that take place.
Will the kids play in the rain?
- Games will only be canceled if the fields are deemed to be unplayable by the NWO Youth Flag Football League. Any cancellations will be posted immediately on the website and our Facebook page. If it is a light rain, show up for your game. The League Directors will make the call on site if conditions warrant postponing games until the weather lets up. It is very important that all players communicate with his/her coach in order to know what has been decided concerning the weather.
What team will my child be on?
- Teams are arranged first by the school district that the player will be attending the upcoming year, second by results from our evaluation dates. Teams are arranged to try to have kids who are from the same community and attend the same school district to be on the same team. This should also provide less travel time to and from practices for parents! Games will be played against teams from other communities.
What are the age divisions?
- Divisions are co-ed and based on grade for the upcoming school year as follows: Kindergarten & Under, 1st Grade & 2nd Grade, and 3rd Grade & 4th Grade.
When will I hear from the head coach?
- The week following the registration deadline, there will be a coaches meeting. Your child's coach will be given a roster of the players on his/her team. The coach will then contact you with information on when and where practices will be held. If you haven't heard from a coach within two weeks following the registration deadline, please contact a League Director for further information.
I'm interested in coaching. Who do I contact?
- You can sign up to coach by submitting our coach's registration form located on our Volunteer Options page. All coaches will need to complete a mandatory background check through the league, as well as attend a mandatory Coaches Meeting prior to the start of the season.
