Pittsburgh RBI League Play – Open Registration – 24/7, 365
WE#21 Youth Baseball-Softball participates in the Pittsburgh RBI League. WE#21 offers two seasons: Spring-Summer (May 15 – June 30) and Fall (August 18 – October 19). WE#21 employs an open registration. Players can register throughout the year to become WE#21 members. Members are introduced to the WE#21 Life Lessons Program and are offered to participate in it. Members must indicate which season (s) they would like to play at least four weeks before the season begins. Players indicate their desire to play in the Spring-Summer season by April 1 and the Fall season by July 18.
Players wear a WE#21 baseball shirt with a player’s name and number from the 1971 World Champion Pittsburgh Pirates roster. There always will be a #35 and a #21 on a team because those numbers were worn by Manny Sanguillen & Roberto Clemente, who were Friends & Teammates (F&T) from 1967-1972. Before the end of the season, each player must participate in community service and demonstrate/recite the primary attributes of being a F&T: Reliability, Loyalty & Generosity. After the season, youths celebrate Roberto’s birthday at a Pirate game on/near August 18 and Manny’s birthday at the Roberto Clemente Museum on/near March 21.
Members are invited to WE#21 events throughout the calendar year. WE#21 organizes players for the spring/summer league in March and for fall league in July. Below are the age brackets for the 2019 & 2020 seasons. Placement is determined by each player’s age as of April 30.
Registration cost nothing. WE#21 welcomes donations of $2.21 or more. Please volunteer to coach and help out at games and events.
Tournament Travel Teams Are Likely. Participation starts at age 9. To be eligible to play in the RBI Pittsburgh tournament season a player must be registered for spring-summer season and participate in 75% of their team’s games and in some cases pass a team tryout.
