The crest for BCSA represents two of the steadfast icons of Portland.
First, our namesake, the bridges. The 12 stripes represent the 12 bridges that cross the Willamette River. They are inverted from left to right as a nod to the different perspectives experienced from one side of a bridge to the other.
Second, the swift. A symbol of speed and teamwork, it is also reminiscent of Oregon's state motto, "Alis volat propriis" or "She flies with her own wings." Athletes wearing this crest will embody the strength and connection of our bridges, and the agility and fellowship of the swifts.
