Mukilteo Youth Soccer Club is a volunteer organization and a member of the North County Youth Soccer Association, Washington State Youth Soccer, and US Youth Soccer. All of our Board Members and Coaches are volunteers and donate their time, energy, and passion to the Mukilteo Youth youth soccer community. Without people like you, this program can not function. While most volunteers come from the participant parent pool, anyone with a desire to promote good sportsmanship, life skills, and of course the development of soccer skills, is welcome and encouraged to join the program.
What? You think an in-depth knowledge of soccer and how to teach it to youth players is required. All that is needed is your passion! Mukilteo Youth Soccer Club has several opportunities for advancing your own skills including training (online and in person), coach mentors, online resources, access to professional coaches, and more.
With the ever changing demands to protect children from all forms of abuse and unfavorable conditions, all US Youth Soccer volunteers are required to complete a national background check as well as complete a few online training courses. This process is known as a Risk Management Application (RMA). Once all of the steps (listed below) have been completed, a volunteer is ready to be accepted to participate in a role for the Club. Currently, a completed and valid RMA expires annually on April 30th, however the online training certificates are valid for multiple years.
Note: There is no guarantee a specific team (age or gender) is in need of a coach. Most available volunteer coaching needs are at the younger age groups.
Click the buttons below to follow the steps in order.
This training is free and must be complete before Step 4.
Concussion training must be renewed yearly.
All volunteers are required to complete this course and receive a course completed certificate. Keep this certificate--it will be used in Step 4 below.

After initial completion of the SafeSport course, a shorter refresh course is required annually. Find the refresher course instructions below.
All volunteers are required to complete this course to obtain a training certificate. Your certificate should indicate completion of "SafeSport Trained". Keep this certificate--it will need to be uploaded to your MYSC account in Step 4 below.

ANNUAL SAFESPORT REFRESHER COURSE INSTRUCTIONS
Registration is done through the secure Stack Sports Registration System and can be done anytime Mukilteo Youth Volunteer Registration is open.
You must register as a volunteer each season in order to participate.
Note: You will need to repeat registration as a volunteer for each age group you would like to participate in. For example, if you are coaching in Girls U10 and assisting in Boys U16, you will need to register once for Girls U10 and then again for Boys U16.
Follow these steps:
Upon completion of registering to volunteer your RMA is submitted to WYS for approval.
Do not start this step until at least May 1st. Currently, a completed and valid RMA expires annually on April 30th. If you already have an account you can login anytime and upload your certificates.
Washington Youth Soccer requires all volunteers to have a valid Risk Management Authorization obtained through a background check service they provide. (See the following link for information about this requirement: WYS RMA Info.) A new background check is required each season.
Volunteers are required to manually follow the process outlined by Washington Youth Soccer. The following links are instructions detailing the background check process.
Washington Youth Soccer Risk Management Instructions for Volunteers
To complete your volunteer registration, please follow the instructions above to run your background check and validate your RMA. During the process, don't forget to select Mukilteo Youth Soccer Club as your organization. If you need assistance with this process, you will need to find it through Washington Youth Soccer using the contact information in the above instructions.
All volunteers are now required to have their identification verified by a staff member of Mukilteo Youth Soccer Club. Recently, there have been an increasing number of stories in the news about volunteers who enter incorrect identification information when filling out a background check application to avoid being detected as someone who would not be eligible to work with children. Verifying identification provides confidence to all families participating with Mukilteo Youth Soccer Club that its volunteers match the identification information submitted for background checks.
Volunteer ID only needs to be verified once--registrations for subsequent seasons should not need verification as long as the same member account is used.
The easiest method of completing this step is to attend the coaches meetings that start off each season. If you are not able to attend those meetings, special arrangements will need to be made to meet with you and verify your identification.
