Great Barrington Little League (GBLL) serves the youth of Southern Berkshire County by providing a positive, motivating and fun baseball experience for every player. Through the fundamentals of baseball, we strive to educate student athletes on many life skills including; pride, courage, loyalty, teamwork, preparation, responsibility, accountable, and integrity. To support our mission, we at GBLL have implemented the following Code of Conduct for all coaches, players, umpires and spectators who participate or attend any GBLL event. Any person guilty of improper conduct should be reported to a GBLL board member.
- I will encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, umpires and spectators.
- I will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct such as booing, taunting, bullying, use of profane/abusive language/gestures or inappropriate physical contact.
- I will never ridicule any participant for making a mistake or losing a competition.
- I will respect umpires and their authority during a game and will not question judgement calls.
- I will refrain from coaching during games and practices unless I am one of the coaches on the team.
- I will not use social media to be critical of coaches, players, umpires, volunteers or other spectators.
- I will not come to a GBLL event with or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or marijuana.
- I will not use any tobacco or vaping product at a GBLL event.
- I will be a good sport, win or lose. When we win I will congratulate my teammates and opponents. When we lose I will congratulate my teammates and opponents. It’s only a game.
- I will respect the complex and equipment provided.
GBLL has adopted a policy of ZERO TOLERANCE. Violators of the code of conduct will be removed from the Little League activity. If the violator refuses to leave, the team associated with that individual will forfeit the game and the incident may be reported to local police department for review. Coaches are held responsible for actions of their players and spectators and may also be impacted by violators of this policy.
