2025-26 JFC High School WINTER Basketball Leagues 9th-12th Grade

*SEASON SHIFTING BACK TO NORMAL RUNTIME SCHEDULE. GAMES PLAYED DECEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY @ SPIKE SPORTSPLEX in CANAL FULTON*

*NOTICE FOR INCOMING 9th GRADERS* - If you played with us up through 8th grade basketball, you are used to signing up on your own and being divided into teams. This is a BRING YOUR OWN TEAM HS League. At the high school level, players are allowed to sign up with friends and create their own teams to compete. There are no assigned practices, but for those teams that want to practice, they may schedule a spot with us after school on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday (3:45-4:45 PM). Any players that do not have a team may sign up as a free agent, but are not guaranteed a team (will refund if we can't find you a team).

*DIVISION SHIFT NOTICE* - This year, we are changing things up with the divisions. ALL FOUR GRADE LEVELS WILL HAVE THEIR OWN DIVISION. Four divisions in total. There are a few exceptions though, as we know some kids have friends they want to play with outside their grade level. Each division can have TWO PLAYERS MAX from one grade level up. Example - A 9th grade team can have TWO 10th graders on it. A 10th grade team can have TWO 11th graders. An 11th grade team can have TWO 12th graders on it. IF you are a split team of grade levels, you will have to play in the higher division. So a team with five 9th graders and three 10th graders would need to play in the 10th grade division. You can have any number of younger players playing up, but only a MAX OF TWO players one grade ahead playing down. So hypothetically, an 11th grade team could have three 11th graders, three 10th graders and two 9th graders. If you have any questions on this, please email Sports Director Joel, [email protected]

Jackson Friends Church High School Basketball Leagues are for grades 9th - 12th. The leagues are recreational and are also "bring your own team". MINIMUM OF EIGHT PLAYERS ON A TEAM.
HOW TO CREATE YOUR TEAM: Each team has to have a coach to start (who can be a player or parent for the purposes of starting the team). It will ask you on the registration if you have a TEAM CODE, but you will hit no as you don't have one yet (so you'll be a free agent until the next page). On the next page it will ask if you are coaching and you'll hit yes and it will ask your for your info and then a team name. That coach/player, once signed up, will go to your coach's profile or team roster on your account home page and you should see "manage roster invites". You can click on that and see the code for you to send an invite through the system for other players to join the team as well!
Individuals that do not have enough players to make a team may sign up individually, and if there are enough kids to make a team, we will make extra teams. Almost always at the 9th/10th grade levels, we are able to make a team or two, from individual players. If for some reason we are not able to put the high schooler on a team, you will receive FULL REFUND (only thing we can't get back is the $3 service fee). At the 11th/12th grade levels, for any players without a team, we usually ask some of our current teams if they would take on an extra player. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it does not. Again a FULL REFUND will be given to anyone who does not end up getting on a team, if signing up as an individual.

Cost for registration is $102 per player for our high school leagues and for those that need a jersey, it is $20 for a jersey (yours to keep and reuse). All jerseys for teams must be JFC jerseys (unless a team has all the same custom uniforms, MUST BE APPROVED by league director, BEFORE THE SEASON). Please email [email protected] with any custom jersey stuff. Last names ONLY on jerseys, no nicknames.

Season runs December 5th - February 28th. There will be NINE regular season games and AT LEAST ONE playoff game for every team (so 10 guaranteed in total).

This year, the league will be split info FOUR DIVISIONS, one for each grade:
Freshman Division (MAX of two sophomores allowed, FREE AGENT TEAM MAY BE ALLOWED THREE)
Sophomore Division (MAX of two juniors allowed)
Junior Division (MAX of two seniors allowed)
Senior Division (highest division)

*EVERY TEAM MUST HAVE A PARENT ON THE BENCH and as a contact for the team roster. This helps us keep the players on the bench under control during the game. Must have this throughout the season to be eligible for playoffs. Will start to regulate after week one.

Each game will feature a half time devotion/prayer with the players. We want to make sure participants have an enjoyable experience with the game and hear about Jesus.

Before the season begins there will be an email sent out to parents/participants on the expectations for this season. It will also be reiterated at the first games of the year. Players and everyone alike will be held to a high standard, as we want this league running at it's highest potential!

There are no official practices at the high school level for JFC basketball, due to crowded gym schedule. HOWEVER, if some teams want to practice and can make it work right after school (3:45 PM - 4:45 PM) on Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays, that is a possibility (once a week per team). Please reach out to sports director Joel if you are interested in scheduling a practice time (email: [email protected]).

As always, we will do our best to keep the facilities clean and safe for kids, parents and fans alike!
We hope you will join us this season!

2025-26 JFC 7th/8th Grade WINTER Basketball League (Co-Ed)

*NOTICE - schedule is going back to start in December and finishing end of February! All games played at Jackson Friends Church!

Jackson Friends Church 7th/8th Grade Basketball League is a Co-Ed basketball league with 7th and 8th grade playing together. Based on league history, normally around 90% or so of the league is boys, with less than 10% being girls. We normally try to put around two or three girls together on a team, for them to be able to stick together somewhat (ex. - last year had 10 total teams. Seven had all boys and three teams had seven boys and three girls, still split talent wise, as evenly as possible). This league is recreational and will focus on developing youths' basketball skills, teaching good practice techniques, and developing interpersonal and teamwork skills. All players evaluate and then are split up into teams as evenly as possible by the league director (you may have a friend request, but too many kids linked together may be broken up for fairness). Each game will feature a half time devotion/prayer with the players. During the week we will pass out a weekly devotional for coaches to read at the end of practice, similar to our K-6th group. We want to make sure participants have an enjoyable experience with the game, learn about Jesus, and increase their basketball skills! Jackson Friends Sports Leagues give equal playing time for all kids!

Season Dates: December 1st, 2025 - February 27th, 2025
Cost of registration: $97 Jersey Fee: $20 (if you don't have one from last season)

Practices for MOST teams will be once a week on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings , with a few teams potentially on a Monday or Wednesday. All practices and games will be at Jackson Friends Church, starting the week of December 1st, 2025. Games will be on FRIDAY evenings, as early as 5 PM and as late as 9 PM. There will be a total of 11 practices and 8 regular season games, along with at least one playoff/extra game for each team. There will be ONE Friday practice on Friday, December 5th. Games will start on Friday, December 12th. We will play games December 12 and 19, take a break for Christmas and games will start back up January 9th, regular season running through February 13th. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season will make the normal playoff bracket. Teams that fall outside the top eight will play in a consolation game (so all teams will get at least 9 games) OR we may do an upper and lower bracket, depending on how the records turn out. Playoffs will start on Friday, February 20th at Jackson Friends Church. Depending on how the playoff bracket lines up, we may have a play in game during the week BEFORE the first playoff bracket game February 20th. We will plan to have everything wrapped up by Friday February 27th OR Saturday, February 28th (if we play a Saturday championship game, TBD).

There will be two evaluation dates options taking place at Jackson Friends Church, that league participants may choose from, to be evaluated before teams are created. The main two evaluation nights are Monday, November 17th, from 7:30 - 8:30 PM OR Tuesday, November 18th, from 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM. On both dates, you may come ANYTIME during that time frame. We will be sending out the expectations for players and parents via email. We want to make sure we are all on the same page with expectations for both Jackson Friends and participants/parents! Our 7th/8th grade basketball league ensures that all kids play AT LEAST half the game, and we do ask coaches to keep playing time as even as possible.

There will be a brief coaches meeting on Tuesday, November 18th, at 8:30 PM (immediately following the last evaluation night). It will take place in the bistro area, just outside the gym. We ask that all parents interested in helping coach attend this meeting. There will be a coaches application/background check for first time coaches and we will also go over the rules, expectations, etc. for the season. We always need more coaches, so please sign up to help us if you can (even if just in an assistant role).

REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS TUESDAY, November 18th, by 3:00 PM!

As always, we will do our best to keep the facilities clean and safe for kids, parents and fans alike!

We hope you will join us this season!

SEASON DATES: January 5th - February 28th (eight weeks)
Registration Cost Breakdown (includes t-shirt, pizza party on last practice night and end of year gift):
Kindergarten Division: $87
1st/2nd Grade Divisions: $90
3rd/4th Grade Division: $92

*JERSEYS ARE THE SAME AS LAST YEAR. YOU DON'T NEED TO BUY A NEW ONE IF YOU HAVE YOURS FROM LAST YEAR.*

The league will be split up into five divisions:

Kindergarten Division
1st - 2nd Grade A Division (Division for more experienced 1st/2nd graders)
1st-2nd Grade B Division (Division for beginners or less experienced 1st/2nd graders)
3rd - 4th Grade Division (IF enough teams, we will split into an A and B Division again. League Director will split kids)
5th - 6th Grade Division
*NOTE - Those signing up for 1st/2nd Grade Divisions A or B. IF after evaluations, we feel your participant would be better suited switching to the opposite division, we will reach out to you. We want to make sure each division has similar enough levels of talent. For those in the 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade divisions, IF it works out, we may split those divisions into an A and B Division as well. Will assess after evaluations.

Teams will practice once weekly (Monday, Tuesday or Thursday), with games on Saturdays (starting with K in the morning and running until 5th/6th in the evening). The league will run from January 5th - February 28th. There will be 8 practices and 8 games. The first practice depending on each player's team will be January 5th, 6th or 8th. First game will be on Saturday, January 17th. We will also have ONE Saturday practice on SATURDAY, January 10th. This also means that to get our eighth game in, we will have games in place of practice the very last week of the season, which would be February 23, 24 or 26 (depending on your normal practice night). And then we will finish off the season with games on Saturday, February 28th!

There will be THREE evaluation dates options that league participants may choose from, to be evaluated before teams are created. The first evaluation opportunities for grades 1st – 6th will take place on Monday, November 17th AND Tuesday, November 18th from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM. IF you cannot make one of these early evaluation nights, we will have ONE LAST OPPORTUNITY on Thursday, December 4th, 5:00 - 7:00 PM. It is preferred though that you could to one of the first chances on Nov. 17th or 18th. You only need to attend ONE evaluation night. Participants can come ANY TIME between timeframes to be evaluated (ex. – 1st grader John could come at 5:45 PM, but 4th grader Sarah shows up at 6:30 PM). Participants will go through a number of drills (with other participants of the same age group) and should be finished in roughly 15 minutes or so. The KINDERGARTEN age group does NOT evaluate, as many of these kids are on similar skill levels, just picking up the game for the first time or being fairly new to it. Parents will have an opportunity to give an assessment of their kindergarten child’s skill level in the registration questions. Evaluations for 1st-6th grade will be at Jackson Friends Church inside our gym. Immediately following the Nov. 17/18 evaluation nights, we will have a brief coaches meeting at 7:30 PM in the generations room, just off the lobby area, for any parents interested in coaching or that have already signed up (only need to attend one meeting). We will have a coaching application/background check to fill out for new coaches and we will go over the league rules, expectations, etc. We always need more coaches, so please sign up! Expectations for parents will be sent out through email, and addressed in the first game week.

As always, we will do our best to keep the facilities clean and safe for kids, parents and fans alike!

We hope you will join us this season!
