Tiger Junior Football is a developmental league designed to teach our West Des Moines youth the fundamentals and fun of football, while promoting character, fair play and respect for the game. Tiger Junior Football will not tolerate discrimination or prejudice based on race, color, national origin, gender, disability, religion, creed, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or socioeconomic status. We aspire to build teamwork with all who participate for unity toward common goals.

  • TJF will be part of the MIYFL (Mid Iowa Youth Football league) and will play 6-7 games in the months of September and October in and around the metro area.
  • The league is set-up for JR’s (3-4th), 5th, 6th and 7th   Grade divisions for all skill levels including beginners.
  • The league currently has membership and representation from the following leagues-Des Moines, Waukee, SEP, Lincoln, Dowling, Perry, and Greene County.
  • TJF will be a 501c3 Non-Profit with a Board of Directors. We will have certified (interviewed) coaches that have coaching certification through a set of TJF clinic(s).
  • TJF will be a member of USA Football and will practice the standards and practices of USA Heads up football. We will appoint a USA Safety Trainer at each Grade level.
  • TJF teams will have a minimum play standard of 15 plays per game per MIYFL league rules.
  • TJF will incorporate draft procedures in conjunction with MIYFL rules to make sure all teams throughout the league are equal in strength and on a fair playing field. Skill players will have a set weight limit for each grade. Depending upon number of teams per grade level we will denote the different teams as Tiger-1, Tiger-2, Tiger 3 etc…
  • Each grade level can determine a practice schedule together or separate with the understanding that they will not play each other at all.
  • All games will all be played at Valley, Waukee, SEP or Dowling.
  • Certified Trainers at all games.
  • League issued uniforms including Riddell V Helmet, Shoulder pads, Integrated Game and Practice Pants and Jerseys.
  • Teams will be split at each grade level by total numbers registered. New players at each grade will be back filled with already existing teams. Players may have the option to opt out of their previous team and go back into the draft.Player, Parent, and Coaches Codes of Conduct will be available on the website and must be turned in during registration at Indian Hills Junior High along with insurance information.
  • Teams will be assembled after all registrations and coaching interviews are complete. Other existing league teams may be grandfathered in, but must adhere to all draft regulations in place by the MIYFL.
