Player Placement
Majors, Minors and Juniors players are drafted by coaches. We are unable to field special requests for players to be on the same team in these divisions.  Our coaches do their best to draft teams with even talent and focus on player development.

Tee Ball and Coach Pitch we will do our best to accommodate special requests. In these divisions of play we attempt to create teams based on their attending school. There are times where this is not able to be facilitated.

If you are interested in non Little League baseball and softball please contact these organizations for information.
Travel (Competitive) Teams, players who want more ball, for ages 8-19:

Special Requests

All requests must be entered in the special request section on the registration form by the closing of February registration to be considered.

FRIEND/COACH REQUESTS

Whenever possible friend / coach requests are honored at the non-competitive younger divisions, Tee ball and Coach Pitch. Friend / Coach requests are not guaranteed. Friend requests are unable to be honored in the competitive baseball / softball divisions, Minor and Major Divisions, as there is a draft.

DIVISION REQUESTS (PLAY UP / PLAY DOWN)

When registering, select the age/grade appropriate division. If you want to request for your son or daughter to be eligible to “play up” in an older division, enter that request in the special request section on the registration form. Please note, however, that limited play up requests will be granted as our experience over many years has shown that players benefit more from being in an age appropriate division as opposed to possibly having to compete for playing time and not pitching in an older division. Likewise, enter “play down” requests in the special request section. Playing down requests are generally honored, subject to potential safety issues. All players participating in Minors, Majors and Juniors will need to attend one of two skill assessments.

Hood River Valley Little League reserves the right to re-assign a child to a division other than the one in which he or she is originally registered or requested by his parent. This is done for a variety of reasons: safety, the need for equal teams, for the development of any one particular child, to ensure that each division has the requisite number of players, or for the general well-being of the league as a whole.
