Laney Steed signs for SSA King's WPSL

Marietta, GA - SOUTHERN SOCCER ACADEMY KINGS have announced on Friday that the club have signed Laney Steed as the first signing in the club’s WPSL history.

Steed, a graduate of the Southern Soccer Academy youth set-up currently plies her trade at the University of Florida and will be an integral part of Head Coach Jack Coulton’s WPSL side. Coulton said, "In Laney we have a top quality player that showcases the pathway the club provides. As an SSA Alumni, Laney has been through the youth set-up here, knows what the club is all about and is going to offer so much on and off the pitch".

Steed said, "The WPSL is an opportunity any college player wants to have during off season. The fact that I can continue training, playing, and exposing my soccer career to a club I knew all to well is an amazing experience. SSA trained me to be the person and player I am today. I am happy I get to continue playing with the club on my pathway to go pro and became stronger in all aspects of the game".

Steed also made reference to her time at Southern Soccer Academy. "SSA was the reason I feel in love with every aspect around soccer. Falling in love with the game was easier, but playing with the club made it an experience I’ll never forget. My youth career developed because of coaches like Jordan Davis, and made my dedication to the club something stronger than I understood. Playing with the club for a around a decade can show how excited I am to return to my roots for this WPSL team and reflect on my past youth experiences that made me who I am to become a Florida gator."

Laney appeared in every match as a freshman for the University of Florida in the SEC. Come out and support the club in their inaugural season for the 2020 WPSL. Go King's!
