Wallenpaupack Youth Soccer

About Our Club

Mission

Wallenpaupack Youth Soccer League (WYSL) is a recreational youth soccer program that strives to provide a positive environment for our players to learn and enjoy the great game of soccer.  WYSL stresses good behavior from its players, coaches, parents and fans.

History

Soccer in Newfoundland began in the mid 1990's by a parent who hung a soccer flag at the entrance to Carlton Drake Memorial Park. The flag caught the attention of some interested parents. These parents came together with their vision and desire, and in 1999 WYSL was born. It has grown from the 40 kids who originally showed up on Saturday mornings 15 years ago, to the 300+ players we are privileged to have participating in our programs. We look forward to seeing your family in the fall for another great season!

WYSL is run by volunteers.  In order to have a successful season we need your help!

Fall Season Information

Fall Program Overview

The WYSL has coed age divisions for Under 6 (Turns 4 before September 1), Under 8 (Turns 6 before September 1), Under 10 (Turns 8 before September 1) and Under 12 (Turns 10 before September 1).
Divisions 6U through 10U are all played in house and the games are played at the Newfoundland Park.
The U12 division plays other teams under NEPSAY, and will play away games as well.  Most away games are no more than a 1 hour drive.

Practice days and times are determined by the coach and therefore will vary for each team.  Most teams practice once or twice a week.  Practice location is also determined by the coach and can vary between fields located by the North School or at the Newfoundland Park. U6 is structured in more of a clinic style format.  All games/practices will take place on Saturdays at the Newfoundland Park.  There are no practices for U6 during the week.  The first half will be allotted to skills and then they will break into teams for small sided games.

Registration pays for:
  • Jersey, shorts, socks for each player
  • SAY club dues (liability insurance)
  • NEPSAY dues
  • Referees
  • Paint for field lines
  • Equipment replacement
  • Year-end banquet (reduced price for players and head coaches) and medals
  • Trophies for tournaments
