Spring Season Changes due to COVID-19

Callaway Soccer Family,

Our organization has had several inquiries in reference to our plans for further impacts the Coronavirus may have on our soccer season. Callaway Soccer is in communication with city leaders and local/state health departments, as well as the CDC. As we previously stated, we have decided to follow the guidance of the CDC and the State of Florida. It is still not our intention, at this time, to cancel our regular Spring Soccer Season.

We were notified today, the city of Callaway will not allow organized league play at the Callaway Recreational Complex until the Governor opens Florida under PHASE II of his recovery plan. 

This delay to the Spring Season will mean:

  No Team Practices until the Governor reopens Florida under Phase II

  No published game schedule until Phase II

  No Development Practice Sessions will be held in the Spring Season

  No Uniform, Bag or Magnet Dissemination until Phase II

  No Coach or Referee Training Scheduled until Phase II

  No Friendlies or Out of County Matches/Games for the Spring Season

  Callaway Soccer Fields Closed at Dusk each day

It is Callaway Soccer's intention to plan for two different Phase II reopenings. Both of these options are dependent upon the effective date of Phase II. There will be difficulties to overcome with both plans and specific details to be released later but the basics are as follows:

PLAN 1 - effective date prior to June 9th
  One week of practices and then games will begin the first available Saturday after.
  No Development Practice Sessions, they will be replaced with games
  Team Practices every other week
  Games on early Saturday Mornings, 8:00am and 9:45am
  Spectators, Players and Coaches must clear the fields immediately after games/practices, No Loitering
  If fields are not cleared within the allotted time frames, game and practice lengths will be shortened

PLAN 2 - effective date after June 9th
  The Spring Season will be delayed until Fall 2020
  The Fall 2020 season will begin 3 weeks earlier than normal (August Start)
  Teams will remain as rostered for the Fall Season as they were for Spring
  All Spring 2020 Assets will be utilized in this new Fall Season
  It will include weekly Team practices and a regular eight game Saturday Schedule

Callaway Soccer is aware of the risks associated with COVID-19 and will keep the wellbeing of our players and their families a top priority. We understand that there are concerns and we appreciate everyone’s support as we try to guide our League. As this is an ever changing situation, we will keep you updated as additional information becomes available.
