Mako U12 - Place 2nd in Commissioner's Cup

Mako's U12 girls' team found themselves playing in this weekend's Commissioner’s Cup State Finals.

Following a convincing 5-1 win over Warner Soccer Club in Saturday's semifinal match, they faced a determined squad in Lee County Strikers. The girls went up 3-1, only for Lee County to come back and tie the game 3–3 with a last-second screamer right before the final whistle.

In overtime, the Strikers quickly went up 5-3. Our girls didn’t give up though! They played hard and fought back to tie it 5-5 to end overtime.

That took the match to a PK shootout where all the girls made their shots, sending it to extra PKs!! The Lee County keeper finally made the deciding save to win the game.

Despite coming up a bit short we want to congratulate Coach Dwayne & Assistant Coach Nate for doing an awesome job with these girls all season.

At Mako Soccer Club, we focus on developing our players. Coach Dwyane’s current U12 squad is a prime example of this, with nearly every player coming through our recreational, pre-academy, or development programs. As these girls move up to the 11v11 field next season we will be looking to increase the numbers in this age group during our tryouts in May. There are many great things to come from this bunch of players
